Last week we discussed our favorite rock drummers.
So today lets move to our favorite rock guitarists.
This will be be fun as there are so many great guitar players over several genres. So lets debate. Here are my favorites:
1. David Gilmour - Pink Floyd (Best guitar solos ever).
2. Jimi Hendrix - (The God of riffs!)
3. Jimmy Page - Led Zeppelin (His Holiness rocks).
4. Eric Clapton - (Slowhand can do it all).
5. Eddie Van Halen - (He changed hard rock forever).
- The Mountain Cat

Oh good grief... Eric Johnson?

"Hi, I'm Joe"
Doc, Where's Thorogood?
Most Unique: Mark Knopfler.
Cheers!!
Freakin Georgie Boy ROCKS hard as ANYONE... but just because you rock doesn't mean that you are a fantastic guitar player... I love John Fogarty too but they are not a multi chord players... LOL!
Worst guitar players:
- Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit (rythm guitar anyway)
- Marc Bolan of T. Rex
- Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and the Dead 27 Club.
- Bille Joe Armstrong of Green Day
- The guitarists for Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, and the entire genre of Emo rockers. More like Elmo rock.
Ooooooh I can't forget my buddy Peter Mayer... the guitar that gives Jimmy Buffett that Bufett sound. And he is a super nice guy too!
Oh also on my list of least favorite guitarists is JOHN MAYER!!!! In fact he should be #1. I've just tried to block him out of my head. AAGGHH!!!!
Can we do singers next week? I'm really bad at musicians names.
I don't know the first thing about this. I listen to the music, know names of bands, but not people!
Please, don't judge.
LOL @ Apple
We don't judge Bina baby... We are all about fun. What bands do you like or think they have the best guitar music in them?
AAAAP, I'll eventually do singers, bassists, pianists and oboeists.
Georgie T would make the singer list... "Yackity-Yackity-Yackity-Yack all the time!"
I will go ahead and tell you that Apple loves Steve Perry.
Journey rocks! Are we limited to men or are we equal opportunity? Pat Benetar has got some pipes. I also love Def Leopard, AC/DC, Gun-n-Roses, Aerosmith and Stryper.
Oh, the drummer for Casting Crowns is awesome.
Pretty much any guitarist that can make his fingers do lots of chords really fast get me excited about what else he could do with those fingers. ;p
Believe it or not I am not going to go with Joe Perry (Aerosmith) as my answer this time around. Although I think Joe is fantastic he doesn't hold a candle to Eddie Van Halen.
This is going to make me sound old, but when I saw Van Halen the thing I remember most about them was they were very very loud and this was like 26 years ago. I'm not saying they aren't goo, not at all. They rock.
I'm not saying they aren't goo
Hard to speak when you are gumming it.
Lu, go to youtube and search for "Van Halen -- Respect the Wind" You'll dig that, guarantee!
Here's a link so you don't have to search....

I saw Van Halen once (with Mt. Cat) and they were pretty durn good... Each member had like a 10 minute solo on stage by themself... Pretty cool stuff!

Also, the late Michael Houser from WSP :)
Carlos Santana
Jeff Beck

Row O is actually row Zero... it's in front of the 1st row !!!

Nigel Tufnel is a Rock God!
Slash, how can you not have Slash on here?
Angus Young?
Hendrix of course.
Pete Townshend, Gene Simmons, and the kid from Extreme, Nuno Bettencourt.
Jeff Beck. Hands down. The best. In my opinion.

RANDY BACHMAN ?????
Pat, We cannot include guitarists you've had sex with. LOL
Vin your father reads this blog...

Jimmy Page is a family hero!
But all these guys are so good at what they do, there can't be a "best", it's all about how they make you feel. Like Eric Clapton, my God the guy is a.........I don't have the word!
Pat,
I know but I didn't sleep with Mark Farner nor Randy Bachman so my dad won't care.

Vernon Reid
Dave Mustain
Peter Frampton

BTW, I saw VH in concert a few months ago and Eddie was f'n amazing. You could of heard a pin drop during his 12 minute solo. Impressive!
Hands down...it's gotta be Clapton...of course this has nothing to do with the fact that the man is a complete SPUNK A RUNI !.....mmmmmmmmmmm.mmmmmm
