Playing with Fire

So I ran across this in one of my youthworker resources. It got me to thinking about all you guys out here in Cyberland. Basically, there are two types of interesting people in the world: Fire-fighters and Fire-starters:

Fire-fighters--These are the people that keep the peace. They keep the status quo. They stop things from getting out of hand, keeping an even keel to the ship. They follow the rules, even maybe helping other people keep the rules. They police the system, making sure that nothing or no one is upset. They value peace, teamwork, structure, framework, processes and do their homework before making a decision. Expect things to get done not to necessarily improve, as the word “risk” is not in their vocabulary.

Fire-starters--These people are the troublemakers. They like to keep things interesting, so they push boundaries and challenge the way things have always been done. They are often characterized as rebels, valuing team but sometimes forge ahead alone to pursue a good idea. They often move hastily, often being attracted to what is shiny. They are inventive and creative, never totally happy or satisfied. If there was an instruction manual, they haven’t opened it - they are smart enough to figure it out without help of a book.

So my question is: which one are you? I'm thinking that most of US people are Fire-starters and that's why we all gravitate towards each other. If we have any Fire-fighters out there, chime in with your thoughts.

Oops! Forgot to sign my name to this. If you haven't figured it out yet, I posted this one.

Got that for ya....

BTW - After reading both I think I am a combination of the two. Depending on the situation.

BTW - Is that Benjamin Franklin with that fire hose ?

Actually, YES it is! It was one of the only cartoon one's I could find. I didn't realize it until just now! LOL

I guarantee that Vin loves that second picture of the little thing with the fire on it's tail...

Ok who is a firestarter in here...

Fire Starter - no question abhout it - wouldn't have it any other way!

Doc, don't you know your Pokemon? Nah ... I guess you wouldn't. That fascination doesn't start until about age 7!

Dear AAAAP,

I think I am somewhere in the middle. Does that make me a fire-eater?

Doc, No I will have strange nightmares about that anatomically incorrect dino. He looks like Barney's evil brother.

Evil Barney sings:
'I love you,
You love me.
Lets engage in Ar-son-y.'

Does it count if I love the 80's Hairband Firehouse?

"Baby, don't treat me baaaaad!"

Dear AAAAP

TMC-that sounds like the noise a cat makes when it hacks up a furrball. Are you trying to say something?

As American as Apple Pie said...

Barney gives me nightmares too! I kinda like this little guy though.

AAAAP,

Well doesn't AAAP sounds better than AARP??

Hmmm...do I want to be cat puke or OLD? Yep, I'll go with cat puke. I can always hose myself off.

Doc, Where did you find this girl? LOL

She is US people... Oh and I found her in Wisconsin. Eating curds and whey or something like that....

I'm definitely a fire fighter. What? Why is everyone laughing? I'm totally a fire fighter. I would never be a fire starter. Fire starters are trouble makers and I'm never a trouble maker at all. ;-)

I got some firefighter in me, but mostly I start them.

As a fourth grader, my friends and I would go home the way the teachers told us never to do, through the woods. We would strike matches and flick them into the leaves and never even look back. While home changing our clothes, we would hear the sirens of the fire trucks and run to go help our heros the firemen, put out the fire.

Of course we eventually got caught and got big trouble, but dang I do love a good fire!!!!!!

If I change my attitude and become a firefighter, do you think that maybe I can be on one of those beefcake fireman calendars too someday??? What?

hehe fire FIRE! hehe

I 100% a fire fighter. I am a mediator, a problem solver, a coach, conflict avoider. That is not to say that I am a push over. But life it too freaking short to fight about every little detail.

And I think fire fighters are more creative. We find different ways to problem solve or examine situations, instead of being reactionary.

ohhhhh....fire fighter calendars. Nice. Hold up your hoses!

It's a good thing the fire fighters outnumber the fire starters or we'd all be burning in hell!

Sorry, but I bring a mixture of both depending on my sassy level for the day some days I start the fires with glee, and others I patiently put them out.

So I am a firefighter with pyromaniac tendencies!

Dana--I quite agree. We need a little of both in this crazy world!

Karen--I am 100% fire-starter. We'd make a good team.

Mama--I hear you. I like the sassy part.

Mt Cat--I think we should have a fire-starter calendar. It would be MUCH more interesting!

Jay--Cynics are automatically fire-starters.

Micky-t--I have a similar story.

Doc--I am NOT little miss muffet!

If you aren't then why the new picture ? I like it BTW. !
