Baseball season is about to start this year just like spring and with it a newness and rebirth of optimism for the season ahead. This season actually kicks off this Sunday with the Yankees - Red Sox rivalry.
Pretty much everyone who reads this knows I am a huge NY Mets fan and after their terrible year last season I am really hoping for a bounce back in 2010 due to the lower expectations. They may not be able to top the Phillies but I think they can make a run at them if they stay healthy.
I was kind of wondering who your favorite baseball team is? Who do you pull for? I know not everyone is a sports fan but everyone should at least have a team they identify with a little bit. Give me your thoughts on this baseball season and how you think your team will do.

I used to be a huge Braves fan, but I haven't followed baseball much in the past few years. I do still identify most with them, however. I have jumped on the Red Sox band wagon a bit, mainly because Abby's teacher last year is such a huge fan and everytime she goes to Boston (where she's from) she inundates our house with Red Sox paraphenalia!
My regional teams are the Cards and the Reds... but I don't really care one way or the other. My husband loves the Reds and was thrilled when Ace was born on Johnny Bench's birthday, LOL.
Oh Doc...you gotta root for the REAL NY team...YANKEES! I love them and have for more years then I count...they ARE baseball!Ha!
Actually when I was in HS I was a HUGE Mets fan..back when they had Strawberry, Dyksta, Carter, HoJo, Gooden and Aguillera...Oh I loved them but became a trader after they won the world series because they got rid of Dykstra soon after...ticked me off so I started rooting for the other team. My bad. ;)
The Royals are my home team and I do root for them. We test out many of the rookie players. I'm going to two of the Royals/Cardinals games in June.
I like the Cubs and the Red Sox because they still have their old stadiums and no matter how much they suck their fans still love them.
I toured Fenway in 2007 and fell in love. People have told me they are going to have to replace it and I'm like have you seen what they done to it. They aren't replacing. Beantown knows the importance of history!
Almost became a Mets fan until Shea stadium was replaced.
Would like to see more equality within the franchises - and since the Yanks pay the highest and replaced there stadium not really a fan. What could the other teams do if there was more equal footing?
Growing up I was a definite mets fan. I remember when I moved to Florida we had to stop on the road on the way down to watch the world series of 86. That was the last year I cared but at least I went out with a bang.
Much prefer the English version.
Teenage girls wearing remarkably short skirts playing a similar game known over here as 'Rounders'.
Far more watchable for me. (That's a surprise?)..;-)
When I lived in GA, we had season tickets to the Braves and when we lived in KS, had season tickets to the Royals and that's about as much baseball as I could take. Hey, I was there for free bat night and the hot dogs.
BTW - My AL Team is the Minnesota Twins and Joe Mauer!!
I'm a Cardinals fan. Most everyone who grows up in this area is. We all grew up listening to Jack Buck doing play-by-ply on radio.
I guess the Braves would be my #2 team. And the Royals, but they're such a terrible organization, it drives me crazy.
Why do they have *off* seasons?
Been a Yankees fan forever and ever and ever although there are many times when I want to punch them
I will forever be a San Francisco Giants fan. Even when they do bad, which has been roughly for the last 20 years.
But this year is our year!
Or maybe next year.
Boston Red Sox! There are only two teams I root for during the course of the season. The Boston Red Sox and anyone who plays against the Yankees!
Old joke Joker that began reversed...root for two teams Yankees and whoever is playing the Red Sox!
Yankees fan here, since I can rememebr knowing what baseball was (over 50 years now.
Used to own season tickets with four friends in the lean years of the early 80's when the best player was Donnie Baseball.
Lived in Boston - YANKEE fan...live in Memphis YANKEE fan.
They spend a lot because they make a lot and give a lot to the tax pool which smaller teams get and the owners leave the money in their pockets. You have to spend it to win it...
Looking forward to #28!
I gotta admit, Doc, I'm not a huge baseball fan. Living in Texas, it's kinda mandatory that we all be football fans and actually I love pro basketball. The Rockets.
Disappointed in me?
The Twins. They just seem like a good bunch. Especially Joe Mauer, the hometown hero.
When my husband and I first married in '91, the Braves were coming out of a slump. I hadn't been much of a baseball fan in the past, but that was something he and I enjoyed watching together. Very nice newlywed memories linked to the Braves. Of course, they are my team.
I tend to have a soft spot for the teams that my son has played little league as... right now, he is on the Red Sox. Last year was the Braves and the year before was the Cubs.
Look at this long comment! Well, you asked, right?
