Thursday Random Thoughts 1/28/10

Stuff I have been thinking about:

-Anybody remember Charo? She hasn't changed a bit in 30 years since she was on the Love Boat....Cuchie Cuchie!

-I love the Urban Dictionary website. I wish that it wasn't blocked at my work... Bunch of good stuff there.

-Last week we had a visitor whose IP address was from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Who knew there was such a thing? What do they teach there leg breaking and extortion? (I keeed I keeed!) But seriously I have to think that NJIT is the poor step brother of MIT. Maybe they will film an episode of Jersey Shore there next season.

- Sign in the break room where I work. "I want to be very clear about this! On Friday January 30th all refrigerators will be cleaned out and any leftovers thrown away!" So much for being "Very Clear" considering this Friday is the 29th... so exactly what day is my week old egg roll gonna get tossed again?

-What is so "fun" about an inch long Snickers bar?

-The Winter Olympics are coming up and I enjoy them. Not quite as much as the summer games, I can't watch the ice skating or ice dancing or stuff like that, but I do like some of the skiing and bobsledding and stuff. NBC always seems to find the heart wrenching and touching stories to tell about the athletes. I bet that NBC is still looking for the sequel to the Tonya Harding - Nancy Kerrigan thing. Speaking of which can you believe that Tonya had the nerve to have her PR person (how does she even have a PR person?) issue a note of sympathy on the passing of Nancy's father. That Tonya Harding still has her trademark lack of tact, that's for sure.

-I really like the song, "I just haven't met you yet" by Michael Buble. Is Buble the reincarnation of Frank Sinatra just minus Rat Pack?

- They are calling for snow in my area this weekend Friday into Saturday. One of the people on the radio insists that the local grocery store chains are in cahoots with the dairy farmers and bread makers and they are blackmailing the meteorologists just so they can sell out the shelves of milk and bread. Ahhh the joys of snow in North Carolina.

- The Absolutgator e-mailed me yesterday saying that he wants to guest post a blog. I told him that he could post tomorrow morning. I wonder what he has in that head of his? Who knows... I just hope that he doesn't kill off the readership here! Check back tomorrow and see what he comes up with.

Ok….well at least they clean your frig out. If your egg roll was left in our frig it would not be found until the smell started to reek down the hall. Reason I don’t use it here at work!

Open wide and I will see if I can toss the Fun Size Snickers into your mouth! That might be fun?

Don't worry Doc, I promise it has nothing to do w/ the State of the Union from last night.

Belle - LOL - I don't have an eggroll in the fridge... Ewwww

Absolut - Well thats good to know... Funny how 2 people can look at a speech that talks about creating jobs, giving tax credits and breaks, and geting healthcare for all Americans and think 2 totally different things.

I see nothing fun about tiny snickers, either. They taste as good, but aren't any more fun.

Yeah, Tonya Harding... if she cared so much about Nancy Kerrigan maybe she wouldn't have had her clubbed in the knee way back when.

Michael Buble is sexy.

How old is Charo? 95? 101?

Say what you want about Tanya Harding, but she does continue to entertain me. ;-)

Oh, there are so many funny things in your post!
1)Charo-you have to be of a certain age to even remember her, with that said she's gotta be damn near 80 by now! Love to see the Cuchie Chichie at that age!
2)If it's not a full size candy bar then "forghettaboutet!"
3)Tonya Harding-How is she even relevant anymore. Trailer Trash at it's finest! I find it funny that the winter Olympics are upon us but the only commerials I keep seeing are for Subway and Micheal Phelps..why is that?
4)MICHAEL BUBLE- Love, love, love him! He could croon to me anytime and I'd be more then okay with it! ;)
5)Snow-we are too, but NC usually doesn't see alot of snow does it? My sister lives at Fr. Bragg..complains evertime it snows. She apparetnly forgot about the KS winters from her past.

Great post Doc! Enjoy reading your random thoughts!

NJIT is one the most reputable engineering schools in the nation! Massachusetts doesn't have a monopoly on that stuff. We are smart here. And we can - like - invent stuff.

My love for Michael Buble is beyond words. He is human sex.

I also have the feeling I am going to be a non-famous version of Charo - trying to hold on to my youth and shaking my ass in public long after it is acceptable.

Little know fact. That bitch died in the early 80s and they just take her out to pose her around for photographers.

Being the person that posts signs like that in the breakroom, after opening up the refrigerator and being assaulted with the stench, no wonder he doesn't know what the date is. I am surprised he is still conscious.

I remember Charo. She's pretty memorable. She's right up there with Dolly Parton in the "never seems to age" category.

Just how many refrigerators do you have at work? We have one and take turns cleaning it weekly. I hate those people that bring a week's worth of food and then forget it's in there. I'm ruthless. If it's not labeled, I throw it away.

Inch long Snickers bars are NOT fun. Now if they'd come up with a foot long Snickers bar, I'd buy it.

I LOVE the winter Olympics too. But I agree about the skating. I hate the way the announcers tell you every move before it even happens..."And here's the triple axel... OHHHHHH.... She doubled it!" Ruins it for me.

Michael Buble is incredible. I love that someone with a style that doesn't fall into current pop culture is making it so big.

Yall make me laugh! LOL!

Mrs. D - I got the shaft with the funs size even because as soon as I put it in my mouth the phone rang and I couldn't even enjoy it.

Jay - I think she still thinks she is on the Love Boat

Chandra - It doesn't snow a whole lot where we are... Probably more in Ft. Bragg.
You are absolutley right about the Michael Phelps commercials. I bet you anything that even though he is a summer olympian he makes an appearance in Vancouver

I have official confirmation the the Mt. Cat has landed in Las Vegas... The Hangover part DUH to commence shortly.

Doc said...

Karen - The mental image of you shaking it in public won't do. Must experience this in person someday... LOL

Christine - A perfectly reasonable explanation!

Terri - Good point on the announcers at the Olympics... I guess they see these people do the same routine over and over.. Your right they talk over it too much.
3 Full sized refridges on our floor but we could use 4.. They are stuffed full of stuff. Clean out day is a welcome day around here.

Doc, I doubt he'll kill it off any worse than say not posting forever...and a day :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence Lu...

Who the hell is Charo...or possibly...why the hell is Charo?..;-)

Urban Dictionary? Never heard of it. Just popped over for a look and entry three was 'oral sex'. Now that's my kind of dictionary!!!

Out of curiosity. Is the an 'Old Jersey'?

mmmmmmmmm...week old egg roll....

Choc full of nuts?

'The Winter Olympics' - We had Torville and Dean!!!...well not both together and neither of them in my case....

'Is Buble the reincarnation of Frank Sinatra just minus Rat Pack?'....so you are aware of the contract that has just been taken out on you?

Snow is still around? Send some over here to England!!! It's such fun!!!

Anyone called Absolutegator has a problem. I mean to say I'm called Four Dinners so it just goes to show that...er...oh...um...yeah...well.....er...takes all kinds....oops

Omg Charo, where else have I seen her before. Wasn't she on some date show? Urban dictionary is cool, it keeps my ebonics in check.

So funny about the fridge-cleaning thing.

And i agree with you about that song--very sweet. I think Buble is a great performer!

Guest posting! That should be interesting...

LMAO at Karens defense of NJ. Love it! NJ sure does get a bad rap and I know there are some really beautiful parts of the state.

And we can - like - invent stuff. Very funny Karen.

Doc said...

4 Din Dins - yessir I do think Old Jersey is in your country and it's called Jersey.

Paul - If I had to bet I woudl say you are right... she was on all that stuff in the 70s

Babe - I still am not aware of the contents of this post that Absolut will make... Kinda geting nervous.

Mic - I went back and re-read that and agree. GREAT defense of NJ!

THey are much, much more fun when you eat 15 of them at a time. Well, for the first few minutes after.
Oh, and i adore Urban Dictionary too!

they should release all the Charo episodes of 'Love Boat' in one box seat - she's such a good actress ;)

I love the fun size Snickers. I keep a bag hidden away, then I go to the restroom, lock the door and scarf one down so the kids don't see me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a stash for very long....

Unknown said...

I agree, the summer Olympics are much more entertaining, but I do enjoy some of it...

Michael Buble...mmmm....

Hadn't heard of the urban dictionary will check it out.

Enjoy your freakin' snow...it'll probably be 80 degrees or something when I'm there next week. Sheesh, can't a girl get a little snow?? :)

'Ang about!!!!

You're saying New Jersey is named after the Channel Islands Jersey???

You Yanks are even crazier than I realised!!!!

Mad as hatters.

I have a theory that Charo actually died several years ago, and whatever reanimation syrum was given to Strom Thurmond and now Dick Clark, has been given to her. She seriously creeps me out, all head of a 70 year-old and boobs of a thirty year-old. Creeps me out to no end.

Shelly Rayedeane said...

I love that urban dictionary site. The other day something about Iphones came up. I'm surprised that haven't added the new Ipad to it and called it a machine with pms.

Hilary said...

Fun random thoughts. I remember Charo too well. She's still overly bubbly.. not to be confused with Buble

You are so sexy when you go all random on us. Cheers Doc!!

Yeah, but while she was around she played a mean ukulele. Or it may have been a guitar...it looked small in comparison :)

Have a great weekend!
