Thursday Random Thoughts 6/12/2008

Stuff I have been thinking about:

-First off make sure that you don't forget Father's Day this Sunday (as if yesterday's post wasn't hint enough).... Make sure you all take care of Dad on Sunday.

-Did you guys read about that "Unicorn Deer" that they discovered in Italy?Kind of cool! (pictured to the right)

-Monday I took the day off from work because my Father in Law was here to help me with shingle repairs on our house. I can tell you this much, our roof is waaaaay up there. I actually slipped one time because I was sweating. Now I am not one to be afraid of heights but I sure do have a healthy respect for those who do that for a living. I don't want to go up there again any time soon.

-Oh just in case you still believe those rumors that Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States here is a link to his birth certificate. No you aren't being Rick rolled either G.

-How about those pictures of the luxury houses that were swept away in Wisconsin when that dam broke? Wow! The news said that the water, " just made it's own river through people's backyards" Well DUH!... let this be a lesson to anyone who doesn't understand. "Don't mess with rapidly moving water, it will win. I promise"

-I read the other day that they are going to make a "Smurfs" movie. I know today's kids who didn't grow up on the smurfs like we did will love them. Yay, the Smurfs are making a comeback. In addition to cartoon images the movie is supposed to have "live action" as well. I wonder who they will get to play Gargamel?

-What is the worst possible time to have a heart attack? I think if you were playing charades and your team members are really bad guessers.

-Odd or interesting search note of the week. We got dozens of visitors this past week who were searching for "Taco Bell feed bags"

-In a sure sign that the apocalypse is upon us NASCAR legend and North Carolina's own "The King" Richard Petty just sold a majority share of his family's 50+ year old racing business to a group of investors from Boston. There is something just wrong about that if you ask me.

-I like the fact that board games are kicking video games butt in our little poll this week. That makes me smile.

-TV during the summer sure does stink. Most of the good shows are in re-runs but there are a few shows that run during summer with new episodes. Law and Order Criminal Intent is one. The Closer is another. What other good shows are out there and what are you watching this summer on TV? (and please don't say the Bill Engvall show)

-Once again just as soon as we get all the processes and workflow set into place here with my work so things are running smoothly for about three months they have to frickkin' go and CHANGE IT ALL AGAIN. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

John Turturro would be a great Gargamel!

My Grandpa owned a roofing company for like 50 years. He was 78 years old and still climbing ladders while carrying bundles of shingles on his shoulder. He was one tough dude.

Summer is bringing a lot of the cheesy reality shows back. I will be watching those.

Thats interesting Karen. My grandfather worked for a roofing company too.

My grandfather dealt with concrete and cement. He outlived all his colleagues who all disappeared mysteriously.

I was thinking John Malcovich... using the same accent as Teddy KGB in Rounders

Barrack is only THREE years older than me??? Holy Crap! And almost to the day, too!

Yea, I saw the video of those houses falling in the water. Freaking amazing.

I head about the Smurff movie too! The guys on the radio here said Shawn Connery should be Papa Smurff.

During the summer, I rarely watch TV, cause it's SO freaking boring!

And I try to stay outside for the most part until it gets dark. Then I go in and go to bed and watch Ghost Hunters, Haunted History, SCI FI channel, etc. I LOVE to be scared!

MC, Ha Ha! "Mysteriously dissapeared". Very funny!

Doc -

"You've got to move this, you're,doing fine!!!""

I once got something pretty darn good looking that made me want to move this! LOL

Ok, I'm a little freaked out by the Smurfs movie b/c it's supposed to be a live action animation...kind of like Beowulf. Why can't they just keep my Smurfs smurftastic like they always were??? (check out Angry Black Bitch's post on it today, you can get there from my blogroll)

I'll be watching So You Think You Can Dance this summer...I can't believe I just admitted that...

Oh and I would never think I'd be rick rolled by you, Turtle :)

Sean Connery as Papa Smurf is perfect! I wonder who'll play Smurfette? Angelina Jolie? I kept waiting for one of the boys to get it on with her. What does THAT say about my childhood?

I am watching Men in Trees and SYTYCD. Both were on last night and both were awesome!!

Most of summer I'll be too busy to watch much. I like to be outside whenever possible too.

Hey Doc! Did you see that A1A: The OFFICIAL Jimmy Buffet tribute band will be in K-town on the 21st? We should get a group together to go and drink Margaritas and Landsharks.

ROTFL @ Bina !!

G... Well after last week I am being cautious with the Rick rolling... (and I am not Turtle)

Apple... you people and your dancing shows... LOL Are you going to watch the ballroom dancing at the Olympics too? Where on earth in Kannapolis will they be playing?

The Mountain Cat said...

'Eh just like a Garg to bring a knife to a mushroom fight.'

As American as Apple Pie said...

Yes, I will be watching Ballroom dancing on the Olympics. It is actually a little known secret dream of mine.

They are playing at the ampitheatre in Village Park. Starts at 7pm. Get there early for a good spot...bring your own cooler and lawn chair.

I like Reese Witherspoon for Smurfette. She looks Smurfish to me

The Mountain Cat said...

Wait! Dan Hedaya looks just like Gargamel.

Compare: Gargamel vs. Dan Hedaya .

No?

Leighann said...

I heard that the Smurf's movie was going to have more female characters.

Smurfette is going to be PISSED!

Doc said...

Reese Witherspoon does kinda look like a smurf... LOL

Karen said...

Leighann - I think with only one female smurf it would be a different kind of movie.

Like "Smurfette Does The Mushroom Village" or something like that.

The Mountain Cat said...

I heard there is a sex tape with Smurfette and Muno from Yo Gabba Gabba.

As American as Apple Pie said...

ROTFLMAO @ Karen and TMC!!!

Doc said...

Smurfette better have had kids by now or that population would be in trouble.... Of course they live a long time. Papa smurf was like 800 years old.

The Mountain Cat said...

Did Smurfette 'service' all the smurfs? Or were they all just blue balled? ha!

Jahooni said...

I say they bring Strawberry Shortcake back to kick Smurfette's butt! That would make a good PG movie. ;)~

Doc said...

Where have you been stranger??

Jahooni said...

Read my blog and you'll know...
Actually I was in therapy for not winning your peach!

Dianne said...

My niece used to spend a lot of time at my house when she was a little one and any time the Smurfs came on she'd start wailing - "NO NO the horrible blue people"

Traumatized the crap outta me!

New season of 'Weeds' starts soon, love that show.

As American as Apple Pie said...

Hey Jahooni! How goes it?

Doc said...

Read my blog and you'll know...

You know I can't access your blog at work.

Bina said...

Dang! Mt. Cat is right! They DO look a like! and how 'bout Jessica Simpson for smurfette?

Bina said...

Mt. Cat is cracking me up!

Bina said...

Doc, I just read Jahooni's and man she has had some stuff happen in the past two weeks! (Nothing REALLY bad so don't freak out).

WNG said...
