Thursday Random Thoughts 4/17

Stuff I have been thinking about:

-I heard on the radio last week that the last dogs to get adopted out of animal shelters are large black dogs. This is primarily due to people psychological reflex of being afraid of them no matter mild their temperament. Hmmmm our dog better start acting right because if we send him to the pound ain't nobody ever gonna adopt him...

-I saw the most disturbing commercial this past weekend. It was an AT&T ad for the "go phone" which featured Meatloaf and this teenager singing back and forth to each other. It was downright scary. Has anyone else seen this commercial? Please back me up on this.

-Hey guys, if you want your wife to think you are a hero and brag to all her friends what a great husband you are I figured out the trick this past past weekend. Here is all you have to do. Find a silent auction where you can outbid her boss for an authentic Coach pocketbook so she gets the bag and also can pick on her boss about it. I promise you from experience it will work. (Plus I saved about $200 over regular price)

-Tomorrow I am going with my work to volunteer at the Second Harvest Foodbank helping to sort and package donated food that goes to food shelters and soup kitchens. It's a great way to volunteer and give something back to the community. I want to thank my company as well for letting my whole department do this on company time and encourage each of you to volunteer your time to help others. If you get a chance you really should volunteer. It's good for you.

-I wonder who the first person was who allowed someone to shoot a laser beam into their eye?

-I can't stand okra... Yuck!

-The other day I actually had someone e-mail me a report saying their kids were watching Yo Gabba Gabba. (and I am not making that up just to work it into a post)

- Next Monday I am taking the day off to spend it with my son... It's Daddy's day off with the boy. YAY I am really looking forward to it !!!

- Did anyone see Hillary do a shot last weekend? She actually did a shot of Crown Royal. Now I like Crown but it's not exactly like it's "shot" material. Come on Hillary... step out there and knock back some Jagermeister or Rumplemintz...or better yet. how about a "cement mixer." LOL, I am sure some of y'all know what I am talking about. The gentlemen pictured to the left just drank a cement mixer.

-If you are in the Charlotte NC area try listening to the Candy and Potter Show from 12-2 pm weekdays on 107.9 The Link. They are a husband and wife team who are really hilarious together. They have these phone scams that they do where they will call people and really mess with them. Funny stuff, Plus the radio station seems to be in the process of a format change and their music has gotten better.

-Interesting search note of the week: Someone from Indonesia (Baja Auto Limited) found our blog by searching the terms "Special Massage Jakarta"

-The guy who buried a Boston Red Sox jersey at the new Yankee Stadium is dumb. They guys who actually jackhammered it out and made a big deal out of it are even dumber.

-Doc

I had a coach bag when I met my husband. He couldn't believe what I paid for purses. He's like my exgirlfriend bought her purses at Kmart :) 2nd Harvest come on Doc you just want a day out of the office on their dime. I can't stank okra... Yuck, Me either her show is just boring any more :)
report saying their kids were watching Yo Gabba Gabba. Did they also tell you they then threw out all TVs from the house.

I haven't even been carrying a purse lately. I think I'm the only women in the world that doesn't give a rats ass about stuff like that.

Cement Mixer = Leighann's gag reflex!

Shame on Meatloaf!

Daddy day, how freakin cute! Take lots of pics!

Leighann said...

The Meatloaf commerical freaked me out so bad, I had to mute it before I could manage to change the channel. I didn't know he was still around...

Doc said...

Mind Erasers and cement mixers make panties disappear so really she was doing us all a favor!

Doc said...

Thanks for the back up on the Meatloaf commercial... For those who may not have seen it I bet you will and you will know EXACTLY what I am talking about when you do...

Oh yeah and Kristy Lee Cook GOT FREAKIN JOBBED last night...

Mini-rant over.

Lu' said...

Oh yeah and Kristy Lee Cook GOT FREAKIN JOBBED last night...

jobbed Doc? Would that be hosed or robbed :)

Knight said...

I love the creepy Meatloaf commercial! The son is Adam Cagley and the mom is Tiffany. Seriously, what the hell is Tiffany doing in that ad?

Doc said...

Jobbed = A combination of gypped and robbed

Lu' said...

Thank you, she did didn't she.

Doc said...

Jobbed = A combination of gypped and robbed (maybe it should be Gobbed)

Knight are you serious? Tiffany was in that commercial... I was too weired out that I had to get up and run and write it down so I wouldn't forget it today.

Karen said...

I was wondering if that was Meatloaf's actual son. In fact, I even emailed my college roommate with that question.

I love that purse. I am not usually a white purse (or shoe) person, but that looks sharp.

And as someone who is in the bar business (sort of anyway), I can report that shots of Crown are relatively popular. Though Jager in the top 1 or 2. Plus, I think a few shots of jager can kill super-viruses.

Doc said...

Karen... The Coach bag is close to that but thats not it exactly, Its pale yellow with brown strap. She loves it so I don't care as long as she is happy!

The Mountain Cat said...

Yes Doc, that Meatloaf commercial is freaky. in fact Meatloaf, aka Marvin Lee Aday, has been going downhill ever since he had those 'man tits' in the film Fight Club.

You had me at Coach Bag, Okay? LOL and that is the truth. That is so sweet, daddy and son day outing!

Have a great Day!

Jay said...

That Meat Loaf commercial is awful! And very disturbing.

I think that the time that people put in volunteering for charitable organizations should have dollar value placed on it and should be tax deductible.

I guess Hillary was afraid of looking soft on immigration and that's why she didn't get a shot of tequila.

Doc said...

Single... I KNEW you would love the Coach purse... LOL! How about that discount I got huh?

Jay... Hillary strikes me as the type that coundn't stop at just one tequilla shot... (HA! I almost can't even type that it's so absurd)

I now think the meatloaf commercial is brilliant...I liked it...lets figure.. if just us bloggers are talking dirt about it, imagine how many others are..REMEMBER: ANY PUBLICITY IS GOOD PUBLICITY....GOPHONE!

I haven't seen the Meatloaf commercial, but then, I don't get to watch a lot of TV...and I don't have cable. Seriously though, Tiffany was in it? Like the one-hit-wonder Tiffany from the 80s? "I think we're alone now..." I loved her!

I'll have to check this 107.9 station out. Sounds fun, AND has 2 ringing endorsements.

Miss Merry--never heard of a Mind Eraser but I think I might like it. What's in it?

Can't do the cement mixers. Crown is yummy. But it's more of a sip-an-savor drink than a down-th-hatch shot.

As American as Apple Pie said...

BTW--I'm soooo jealous about the Coach purse. I want one bad.

Bimbo Baggins said...

LOL, I have seen the Meatloaf commercial. "let me sleep on it" yeah...very disturbing.

Doc said...

Apple.. Oh NOW you are gonna check it out since Miss Merry listens to it... how long have I been telling you about 107.9 ??

Coach Bag Coach Bag *sticks tongue out*

Doc said...

Welcome to the DPH... Check her out you guys, The Shoes are fabulous....

Bimbo Baggins said...

Miss Merry (Jess) - I fuckin love mind erasers!!!

Doc, can I cuss???

Doc said...

DPH You can cuss just don't get outta hand... If you want to see a good example of how we do things here read the comments on "Upcoming Milestone" or the 108 comments on "Tuesday Word Game 4/15" down the page... We have fun here. Sometimes too much....

Dianne said...

the first time I saw the Meatloaf commercial my immediate thought was - "wow, eventually everyone becomes a $2 whore" and I mean no disrespect to $2 whores.

It is blowing my mind that the horror who floats thru the garage door is Tiffany! WTF!?

kudos to your opinion of the whole Red Sox shirt burial thing. It freakin' led the news here a few times! not like there's anything important going on.

As American as Apple Pie said...

Doc--yeah, but I don't believe everything you say. AND I never do what you tell me to...almost.

As American as Apple Pie said...

Have fun with your son on Mon! Whatcha got planned?

Doc said...

Dianne... It's probably because I'm a Mets fan... LOL!

Apple... Taking him to eat lunch at Mommy's work and the park if it's nice. he loves the swings.

C. said...

* drools over the purse * Umm, could you please e-mail my hubby about that? He would have gotten lucky for MONTHS if he'd done that for ME. You rock.

I am concerned that some of the people here have not yet had the chance to enjoy the glorious disaster known as the MEATLOAF COMMERCIAL .

Doc said...

Oh Dear lord... that was Tiffany.

Anndi said...

Yankees fans... ugh

She loves it so I don't care as long as she is happy!

Cause when the momma is happy... wooooo!!

Take pics of you and the 'sweet cheeked one'!

Anndi said...

Oh.. and check your e-mail tonight.. I'm sending you something disturbing. If I had to watch it, so do my friends! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
It's the video equivalent of 'taste this, does this taste bad to you?'

Doc said...

I am now oficially scared to open my e-mail

As American as Apple Pie said...

I watched the commercial. I didn't think it was that bad. But Tiffany as a "surprise guest" is funny.

On a related note...I saw Meatloaf in concert back in '94 when his "I'd do anything for love" album came out. IT....WAS....AWESOME!!! I only wish I had been old enough to drink. Still...it was one of the best nights of my life.

As American as Apple Pie said...

Have you seen the "long version" of the commercial? It has a hysterical seen of Tiffany kneeling by the refridgerator. Bizarre.

Aunt Becky said...

I TOTALLY SAW THE MEATLOAF COMMERCIAL AND CHOKED. HOLY SHIT!

C. said...

"Has anyone else seen this commercial?" - - Can't say I saw it as 'disturbing' and I sure as hell won't admit, since you DO, that I sing along every time. The REAL version, that is. ;) Does that make me a bad, bad person?

CarmenSinCity said...

I love the Coach Purse idea!!!!

Doc said...

Does that make me a bad, bad person?

Maybe... let me sleep on it

Real Live Lesbian said...

If you're ever single, give me a call. Bring THAT PURSE! OMG, I'm in love with it! Lemony fresh!

Anonymous said...

Ok Doc, what did you do wrong? lol. Love the purse. You have fine taste in female accessories!

BTW, what's the deal with the commercials ads over there? So much money for such a small amount of air play.. Or do you have a commercial ad channel with 24/7 airing time?

I've missed being around this week.
I look forward to seeing and reading about your Daddy Day out with your munchkin, Doc..
Oh... Black dogs terrified me as a small child and I have scars to prove it! All dogs terrified me though but black seemed to be after me more often and bite harder.
Only one non-black coloured dog, a Golden Lab bit me and it was about 12 years old and half deaf and blind, that was my luck with dogs though..
Hope your doing well and taking care,
Hugs, Lesley
