Can someone explain to me

How Jim Brown or anyone else for that matter can tell Tiger Woods how he should have reacted to recent comments by golf channel announcer Kelly Tilghman? People (and the media) keep trying to perpetuate this very minor story and create something that is just not there. Why can't anyone just accept what Tiger is saying that he knows Kelly and he did not take offense to her comments because he knows that she is not racist and didn't mean him any harm? Good grief people. In my opinion America needs to grow a little thicker skin about some things. Sometimes people just say dumb things and that doesn't make them racist. How can we be the country who is so willing to forgive and forget cheating politicians, drug addict musicians, and athletes who abuse women but we are so offended by a silly remark said in jest by a golf TV announcer who obviously had no racist intent? Let's save our outrage at racism over real racism and stop trying to tell others when they ought to be offended or dig up racism when it's not there. I think Tiger is more qualified than the media or Jim Brown to know when he himself should be offended.

Just something for ya'll to think about.

Well, I say that Kelly Tilghman got lynched in this mess, although my opinion isn't a very popular one.

Jim Brown and Al Sharpton are doing their best to make sure racism NEVER goes away - if it did, they'd be without a cause!

Without a platform people such as Jim Brown and Al Sharpton actually would have no lives to live. See they need to be in the spotlight so by telling other people what they should think or feel...they get their 5 minutes in the spotlight.

Tilghman may have chose a wrong word, but it was said in jest, and I believe Woods took it at that....if you can't have a sense of humor, than why bother living?
Personally, I think it is time to get over it...and I am not belittling the Civil Rights movement in any way. I believe in equality, but how long do we have to listen to the same cries?
Okay, now you made me be serious....Matt, brought out the sassy me, and you...
See what happens when Mama Bear wakes up in a good mood?

Thanks for your comments guys. I know it's generally more lighthearted over here but this just gets under my skin when people and the media go looking for racism when it's really not there. It cheapens real racism.

I couldn't agree more, Doc...

Doc - Wait for it...

Oh, I think racism and all stereotypes should be lynched.

Unless the rope fits of course...

We love the drama. We need to make Kelly the villian and Tiger the victim.

And we also love the comeback story. In general we will forgive anyone anything as long as it a good story.

I totally agree with Dana's opinion about Sharpton and Brown.

Yeah! Who the hell does Jim Brown think he is? Doesn't he know that he's supposed to check with white people to let him know if he's offended or not?

/*snicker* Let's see if that stirs anyone up. hahaha

i agree 100% that America needs to grow a thicker skin. I get so fed up with racism. I have all mixes in my family and it just pisses me off on how stupid people really are! And racism will never go away if people walk around with a big chip on their shoulders. Move forward people. Move forward.

Okay, on a funnier note: I have been singing Slim-Fast Shady since yesterday! Now is that racisit too?

Phase two is now up.

Okay, two Mexicans, a Jew and a single black catholic welfare mom walk int a gay bar.

Who didn't buy drinks?

Ans: All of the above, the bartender wouldn't accept food stamps...

I just made that up!

Somebody call Al Sharpton and Jim Brown and ask them if that joke would be considered racist...

The Jew part has me a little unsure.

I'm not a racist, I hate everyone equally.

But personally I subscribe to something Dennise Miller once said, 'Why hate someone for the color of their skin. If you actually took the time to get to know the person, there are so many other reasons to hate someone.'

Racism is a terrible thing. I just don't believe that it is as prevalent in today's society as Al, Jesse, and Jim would have you think it is. They jump on any comment or action by white America to tell us how black America is still oppressed. Hey guys, every time you cry racism, you tear the races further apart and lose credibility. Case in point, the Duke Lacrosse case. Jesse, you took that one right on the chin! Quit looking for instances you can take things out of context and really work to bring the races together.

I think Robert D. Rayford said it best, "We have become the United States of the Offended."

(I never thought I'd quote something from the John Boy & Billy Show!)

Absolutgator,
Thank you. I have been waiting for this comment to be made for a very long time. Too long perhaps. I only hope that one day such idiots will realize that the majority of Americans (all races) are moving forward and making changes for our future.
