NO GAS ..It's like the 70's all over again

I don't know about where you all live but the Charlotte NC area is in the middle of a HUGE gasoline shortage. It's just like the Energy crunch in the 1970's. There are high prices, long lines, people breaking out into fights, and there will not be any relief for a week at least according to officials. From what I hear our part of the country is the only place feeling this crunch and it's due to Hurricane Ike shutting down production. I have always said that I never want to live anywhere else (and still don't) but I have finally found one downside to living here.... We are at the end of the pipeline that supplies gasoline from the Gulf of Mexico refineries. Oh well... Wish us luck that we will be able to make it through the weekend.

Holy crap. That is crazy. I didn't realize that what happened in NC.

We have no lines here and I just paid $2.21/gallon yesterday. That was the cheapest gas I have seen in a very, very long time.

Good luck, Doc.

Good lord! I am glad that we haven't endured something like that "yet". I am sure it is due to come.

KAREN!!!!! - $2.21 a gallon???

HOLY CRAP that's the best price for gas I have seen in a long time... we are at about $4 a gallon here (if you can find gas)Are you sure it wasn't $3.21?

I didn't pass a single gas station on my way to work this morning that has gasoline... All OUT!

Sorry Doc - $3.21 LOL. For $2.21 it might be worth you driving up here to fill up.

Were in the 3.48 range around here with half the stations out of gas. Yesterday I filled my jugs for the future crunch.

yeah, we're on week 2.5 of the great gas outtage here in Nashville,TN. when you can get gas, its 3.89 - 4.29...when it's available. There's been 50-car-deep lines, 1.5 hour waits, police directing traffic near stations, fights breaking out at pumps...it's madness.

I remember the lines of the 70s. Used to go out at 5AM to be at the front and still get to work!

I filled up earlier this week for $3.17. We haven't had problems, but thank you for the warning.

I just went out to get a cheeseburger and nothing has changed - The line outside of the one station I saw with gas was 2 blocks long... This is just crazy. Thank goodness I have half a tank - Enough to get me home today and to the Panthers game on Sunday.
