Good afternoon. This is a hard list to come up with. Below are 25 of my favorites films. However, it is difficult to come up the correct order. 6. The Blues Brothers

The Harry Potter movies are close as well as the three original Star Wars movies. So is Scarface and The Godfather II

The Mountain Cat said...

Leighann, what 4 did you see?

The Mountain Cat said...

Doc, Did you see Manhunter? It is the same story as Red Dragon but I think it is a better film IMHO.

Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecter!

Karen said...

Out of the 25 I have seen all but 4. Never saw Fargo, Sweet Smell of Success, Double Indemnity or The Conversation.

But Goodfellas and Casino are probablly my favorite two movies of all time. And I really like most of the movies on your list.

Karen said...

Doc I have only seen 5 of your movies though!

Doc said...

Doc, Did you see Manhunter?

We have had this conversation before...LOL

Leighann said...

Vin, I've seen Pulp Fiction, Se7en, Psycho and To Kill A Mockingbird

Leighann said...

Some of my favorites are:

Men of Honor
Remember the Titans
What Lies Beneath
Rocky - Rocky V
Saw - Saw IV
Tombstone
The "Bourne" Trilogy
Night of the Living Dead
Nightmare On Elm Street
Cujo

Leighann said...

I don't care for mobster movies or war movies.

I like cheesy comedies like Old School, Dodgeball and pretty much anything Adam Sandler.

The Mountain Cat said...

Doc, refresh my memory please.

Doc said...

Doc I have only seen 5 of your movies though!

I highly suggest you rent the Exorcist III - It's much more than a 'horror' movie which I don't like. That movie is pure genius. I used to work as a movie theater projectionist and had to stay after work and watch the movies the day before opening to make sure all my splices were correct... Nothing (and I mean nothing) will unerve you more than watching that movie all alone in an entire theater at 3 am and then locking up to go out to your car in an empty foggy parking lot and then all of a sudden a cold wind picks up even though it's the middle of July... that movie is unbelievable!

Doc said...

Dude... how did I forget The Shawshank Redemption ??!!!

Get busy living or get busy dying

Karen said...

Leighann - I have seen 3 of your movies (Remember The Titans, The first Bourne Movie and Rocky V).

Rocky IV is among my favorites too.

Doc said...

Doc, refresh my memory please.

No I haven't seen it, I love the Ed Norton version. The tooth fairy....

runningwildkids said...

Shawshank Redemption

Here is my list off the top of my head.

Goodfellas
Casino
Gone With The Wind
Love Actually
The Apartment
The Sting
The Object of My Affection
Godfather I and II
Rocky IV
Intolerable Cruelty

Knight said...

This is Spinal Tap and Annie Hall make the top of my list as well. One of my all time favorites is One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Oh, and Reservoir Dogs.

Doc said...

Ooooh The Sting gets me every time I fall for it!

(but if you are gonna watch it you better like 'The Entertainer' being played on the paino)

Doc said...

Vin, How could you let me forget 'The Untouchables' ?

"I want him DEAD, I want his entire family DEAD!"

"Just like a wop... bring a knife to a gunfight"

That replaces Tombstone and jumps into my Top 10. The Shawshank Redemption takes out Red Dragon

Leighann said...

Oh yes, I like The Shawshank Redemption!

And The Green Mile

Leighann said...

Silence of the Lambs is WAY better than any of the other "Hanibal" movies.

Leighann said...

We recently had a "Pirates" marathon and watched all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, those are entertaining.

We also did a Resident Evil marathon, those are okay.

Oh, and I forgot Pet Semetary on my list!! That's also one of my 7 year olds favorite movies.

Dice Mardell said...

I've seen (and like mind you) 13 of Mtn Cat's and 8 of Doc's!
Goodfellas RULES!
I also (very much) like:
A Bronx Tale
Heart & Souls
What Dreams May Come
Sneakers
Carlito's Way
Casino

Just to name a few.
So many GREAT movies, so little time!

Doc said...

Hey Dice whats up? I always thought you didn't like to comment... Thanks for stopping by. don't be a stranger.

Oh yeah and Sneakers was a great movie.

The Mountain Cat said...

Karen, Love Actually is a great movie! So it Intolerable Cruelty or any Coen Brother's films for that matter.

Doc, The Untouchable is nice fluff. Brian DePalma is a chump. You know I am a movie snob!

Dice Mardell, Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your comments. Two Scorsese films on list. You rock.

Oh snap, I forgot The Color of Money!!! Scorsese's third best film behind Goodfeathers and Taxi Cab Confessions Driver.

Acrimony said...

Yea, I'm pretty sure I only saw 5 of those on that list even though I've heard of them all.

Some of my favorites are (in no particular order):

Pi
A Beautiful Mind
And the Band Played On
Rush
Forget Paris
Rocketman (1997 Disney Version)
Legally Blond
Finding Nemo
Emperor's New Groove

Jay said...

I've seen them all, many of them multiple times.

Knight puts "Reservoir Dogs" near the top of her list? I'm so in love! ;-)

Has anyone mentioned "Ronin" I love that movie.

I was already planning a movie post for tomorrow.

Unknown said...

WHAT? You don't have Thombstone listed? What in the world is wrong with you? You know,

"My hypocricy only goes so far"

"My hypocricy knows no bounds".

Best two lines ever!

Doc said...

Vinny would say that Tombstone doesn't count because it wasn't in black and white and wasn't directed by "Marty"

The Mountain Cat said...

No Doc I love all genres you film peasant! LOL.

Talisman, Pi is an amazing film! So i assume you saw Reqium for a Dream then? One of the most disturbing films ever.

Leighann said...

"Film Peasant" ??

WTF Vin? :p

Doc said...

Vin is trying to act like he is some sort of elitist....

(and this is the same guy who giggles so hard that he falls off the chair when the Pittsburgh Parrot mascot dances around like he is drunk)

Doc said...

I want John Mayer to direct a movie called "Say what you need to say"

Leighann said...

(and this is the same guy who giggles so hard that he falls off the chair when the Pittsburgh Parrot mascot dances around like he is drunk)

And the same guy who quotes "The Family Guy" and uses "Giggity Giggity Giggity" as a pick up line?

*giggle*

Knight said...

I'm trying to figure out which movie would be considered elitist. Not anything named so far, right?

Knight said...

Hell yeah Jay! When they pan over to the Watch Your Head sign while Mr. Blonde cuts the cops ear off, I feel all is right with the world and the very sick sense of humor.

The Mountain Cat said...

Any film with Sir Ben Kingsley in it is an elitist film!

Oh 'Sexy Beast' is an awesome film too. Kingsley is the only man who can play Gandhi and a psycho mob boss and get two Oscar nominations for both. He rocks!

One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest ties with Gone With the Wind at the top of my list.

and Goodfellas!! the music and editing when he's entering the club through the back entrance is amazing.

and Midnight Cowboy
The Graduate - ahhh Anne Bancroft
Days of Wine and Roses
Steel Magnolias
Moonstruck

just so many ...

The Mountain Cat said...

Moonstuck! That is Cousin Pats favorite film. Patty where are you today?

My dad and I believe that Gone With the Wind is the best film ever MADE. However I don't like to sit through all 4 hours of it. The same goes for Lawrence of Arabia. LOL

Oh and lets not forget about Plan 9 from Outerspace. It is sooooo bad, it is good. Very entertaining film. Nevermind the alternating light vs. dark skies per continuous shots. It is not a plot point. Ed Wood was a master.
Did anyone see it?
