New Poll 1/14/08 - Cola Wars

Thanks to everyone who voted in last weeks poll. (which is archived down the right hand side of the page) Subway Oil and Vinegar posed a huge challenge to Arby's Horsey Sauce however Horsey won in the end due not only to it's deliciousness but also to it's huge fan following. Taco Bell Mild Sauce finished a distant third. Therefore Arby's horsey Sauce shall here by be referred to as "World's Best Condiment" Thank you to those who got up and clicked it to victory and in the process making Oil and Vinegar seem more like Oil and water. But I digress.

This week I expect an equally epic battle. Last week taste buds were the determining factor but this week I feel that the vote will fall along geographical lines. It's The Cola Wars !! The poll this week is What do you call those carbonated beverages that we all drink? Soda, Pop, Soft Drink, coke (generic term), Cola, or Other. Let the debate and the war wage and may the best term with the most support win. If you have an "other" please post it here. Voting begins now and runs through Midnight Sunday night.

Bottoms up !

-Doc

In New York we go in pizzerias and ask for 'A Coke and a slice'. But most of us NuYawkas talk so fast it sounds like 'A coconut slice'! LOL

Also, Taco Bell only serves Pepsi. So if you go into their restaurant and ask for a Coke and they serve it to you, technically the Coca-Cola company can sue Pepsi and Taco Bell for using Coke's brand name to sell Pepsi. Seriously, I read an article a long time about this. Coca-Cola would send people undercover to Taco Bell's to test this notion out. I have to find the article on line.

Jay - Yep - Got this suggested over the weekend... Those "pop" people get downright nasty about it.

Vince - Yep some people just order coke even if they want grape soda... It's odd. BTW - I am a soda person myself.

i guess being born in Indiana, I go back to my roots on this one. I call them soda's.

Rubbish on the Horsey sauce winning! I never go to Arby's. I guess I will have to see what all the fuss is about.

In Brooklyn when asking if hungry we also say, "Jeet?" But I'm not longer living in Brooklyn...

I'm down with Soda.

Leighann - LOL! to make a bad joke it seems that "Pop" is getting Spanked!

Christine - what do they call it in the Hamptons ?

It is called Perrier in the Hamptons I think?

In Brooklyn after someone asks 'Jeet?' Then you'd get an answer 'No, j'u?

Pop is yankee. Soda and Coke are Southern.

Coke for us in the South!

What would you like to drink?
I'll have a coke.
What kind?
Dr. Pepper.

Makes no sense to me but I keep on saying it. :)

Pop, dammit. Although I do occasionally say Soda. Now anyone who says "Soft Drink" is either a big wuss or a right wing Evangelical. Cheers!!

Definitely soda...and I've been a "NuYawka" my whole life! I really don't know anybody who says pop...and the only "other" would be selzer or my favorite which is "bubbly water"!
