If you want the job at least spell it write... err right

I find this hilarious. Charlotte, NC mayor Pat McCrory announced that he was running for North Carolina Governor on Tuesday and then promptly sent out news releases that had this on them:

Now call me on this if I am wrong but if you are running for an elected office like governor wouldn't you want to make sure you could at least spell it? Now of course "Mayor Pat"as we call him around here wasn't the one in charge of spelling however those who were responsible then decided to get wacky.

The fun began when the mistake was pointed out. It seems the campaign manager said "a hacker had accessed the campaign's computer to alter the word". Then they said no it was a graphic design error. When asked to comment again later in the day they said there was a second hacker attack, then finally at the end of the day McCrory said No it was just a spelling error. Wheew could you follow all that?

Let's hope that if these are indeed lies that McCrory's staff can keep them better under wraps or at least make sure everyone knows which lie is being told so there is less confusion.

Good grief. Not a good way to start out the first day of a campaign. This campaign may prove fun for watching!

(In the interest of full disclosure I did vote for McCrory, a Republican twice for mayor of Charlotte despite being a Democrat myself and I think he has done a good job running Charlotte even though he should be a full time mayor and not a Duke Energy employee)

He should have e-mailed Doc and the Mt. Cat - My advice would have been... GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT BEFORE TELLING THE MEDIA IT WAS A HACKER/GRAPHIC DESIGN ERROR !

He looks like Stephen Colbert.

That's classic!

Two years ago a guy I know ran for city council. Instead of putting "for city council" on his billboard he put "for Harrison city goverment"

Notice a problem there? Yeah, he misspelled "government." When I told him he just shrugged his shoulders.

He lost. LOL

I just had to go and fix my own spelling error in that post... OOOPS...

No nevermind. I think a hacker did it (or was it a graphic design error?)

Matt-Man,
That was FUNNY! I sure didn't have the balls to say it! Looking downwards, no balls.

Guess I really can't laugh because here in California, people vote for actors, celebrities and crap to run our state. sad. (not me of course!)

I wonder if Mayor Pat made that comment up there and then deleted it ?

hehe, around here it never would have been noticed.

That is classic. Not a deal breaker in my opinion though. We all make stupid mistakes.

Christine - he does look like Steven Colbert!

Jay - LOL! - McCrory should have just shruged to instead of having those crazy stories out there making them look like the keystone cops.

Matt-Man - Are you calling us ignerent ?? LOL

Penelope Anne - They just couln't keep their lies straight... I mean a hacker? come on.. Even if it was a hacker you probably don't want to admit you can get hacked that easy.

Reggie - you are correct Sir... Toss us some pork for the roads around here. I-85 needs to be 10 lanes wide from Charlotte to Kannapolis

Doc said...

Jahooni - No balls huh? Thats a tough problem... but I am sure you are better off w/o them

Hammer - Too funny!!

RLL - Yep the lies is what got me too.... It would have just been a funny typo otherwise.

Karen - Oh I still planning on giving him the benefit of the doubt in the campaign. he has done a decent job here is Charlotte. But Charlotte politicians have a tough time winning statewide elections in NC - Hell we kept electing Jesse Helms for most of my life - anyway that is a story for a different day.

As a Gator fan, I feel his pain; we had a croc on our media guide a few years back. You'd think the marketing department for UF would know the difference between a gator and a crocodile just like this guy's office should have known how to spell governor.
