I have a question about this Russian Spy case...

Why oh why did I ever decide against that CIA training?

Meet Anna Chapman. Alleged Russian spy, femme fatale, Apparent Cookie Monster lover, all around hottie, and my new international babe of mystery. I am still in the initial phase of my research but I plan on doing my best to help the US avert any international crises over this spy case. More to come on my new celebrity crush I am sure...

It's coming... Fantasy Football

I know it's not even quite July yet but I wanted to gauge the feelings of blog readers on fantasy football for this fall.
It's fun, free, and easy to play. I am looking to set up a league for all my blog and twitter friends to play in. I haven't decided yet yet which platform to use but it will probably be either yahoo or CBSSportsline.
The league can have as few as 8 or as many as 20 teams to play so there is plenty of room for all. Our league will be set up to auto draft which means that you will rank your favorite players and the site will pick them for you so we do not all have to be online at the same time. The league format will be Head to head which means that each week you will play against a specific opponent instead of the whole league. Depending on the number of teams we will look at divisions and playoff format to determine the champion. You will be able to set your lineup ahead of time so playing will not take up a lot of your time. however it will be fun. (Yes, Dana and Kimmeh I said fun and not too serious)
Please leave a comment letting me know your interest and as we get closer to August I will let everyone know how and when to sign up.

Where did 15 years go?

15 years, seriously? Where did it go? As I got here to work this morning and realized that my annual performance review was due today I started thinking. I looked at the heading and it includes my hire date June 25, 1995. Fifteen years ago today. Wow. A lot has happened in the past 15 years. Some bad but most good.
If you consider a working career with a company 30 years then I guess I am at the mid-point. Everything is down hill to retirement right? I seriously need to keep working though because my investments and portfolio aren't nearly ready to support me and my family yet.
I included the most recently taken picture of me that I can find. Taken at our friends' 25 wedding vow ceremony, or more specifically at the party after. I look at myself and how I have aged from that kid that 15 years ago who fresh off a failed first career out of college attempt took the next job with benefits that came along. I figured I would work here a few years until I found my true calling. Did that true calling ever come? Maybe it has and I just never realized it. I have a few things that I would like to tell that kid from fifteen years ago who was so care free and had his whole life in front of him. A few things maybe but I don't think I would tell him to change much. Here's hoping the next fifteen years go well also.

X-Rated Models?

Many times people have said that models and some actresses are walking skeletons. Well, Eizo (a Japaneses manufacture of computer displays) and Butter (a German Advertising) agency has brought skeletal modeling (link: http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/06/22/4545973-x-ray-pinups-stripped-to-the-bone) to life. Is this their way to move girly calendar from the garage into the medical office?
I personally found this to be quite fascinating. Maybe an interest in x-rays started when we stood in line a the local hospital to have our Halloween candy x-rayed. I wasn’t worried, but got to keep the x-ray. I think they did find something in the kid standing in front of me. They said they went to a questionable house.

In the world of Homeland Security and airport safety there is a lot of controversy with the new x-ray machines because someone might see your privates. Makes me wonder if this was done to tell Americans we are crazy, just use the airport machines.

Are these more intriguing to you than the Playboy pictoricals where everything is out there? Phil Plait (link: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2010/06/21/x-rayted-pinup/) questioned if these were racy, because there is a hint of skin like with lingerie modeling.
Maybe the best thing to come out of these images is for everyone to realize the stress feet take when wearing stillettos.

Buff Bods of Hollywood

On my trivia team I bring to the table pop culture knowledge. Ever since Kate Moss hit the scene back in the 1990s women have felt the pressure to become model thin even if our body type isn’t meant to be a little boy, i.e. we have hips and tits.

This really hasn’t gone away over
the past couple of decades. Sex and the City even talked about men who are average on the 10 scale are not looking at average women, but only going for the 9s and 10s. Will and Grace had an episode where Karen and Jack were channel surfing and saying “fat man/skinny wife” over and over again. In real life would Jim Blushi be married to Courtney Thorne Smith?

Now the pressure is finally on men, and the era of the buffed actor is upon us. Does this mean that the scale will work its way back to normal? Is image more important than ever? What about the Average Jane/Joe that most of us are? Does this mean we will see more and more actors on the screen that look good but couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag?
