If this doesn't make you mad you aren't American

I'm not usually a Sunday blogger and certainly not a Sunday ranter but this just plain made me mad as hell! I woke up this morning to read this. Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the Sept 11th attacks a "Big Lie" and claims that the death toll caused by those terrorists isn't near 3,000 because the US has never published the names of the victims.

Hey Ahmadinejad you supreme A-hole.. THIS IS THE REASON WE WON'T LET YOU VISIT GROUND ZERO!! As far as not publishing the names of the victims. Maybe you should have sat there and listened to the names being read as a tribute in 2007.

Now as far as justifications for the war on terror, Invading Iraq and Afghanistan, and other political entities of some people may disagree. I think the one thing we can agree on is that Ahmadinejad needs to butt out and keep his off base theories about Sept 11th to himself.

Busy Busy...

I'll tell you what, there is no way I could be a single parent. My wife is away at a conference and I am taking care of our son. He has been great and helping me to keep from forgetting things but the biggest problem is work.
This week I have been coming in half and hour later but still leaving the same time and I am simply covered up. I never realized how much difference that half an hour makes. (It may also go back to Monday when I got here late because I was waiting for the DirecTV man)
Sadly because I am so busy this has really cut into my time to do other stuff like blogging and Tweeting. I will eventually get caught up reading yoru blogs and get back to normal but it might not be until next week. Sorry no random thoughts today. I don't have time to type them out!
Oh yeah, if you haven't emailed me yet to get an invitation to join the NCAA tournament league that Jay and I are running please see the announcement at the top of the page. Have a Happy Thursday.

The Suit that Acquit Doesn't Fit

I was glad to read yesterday that the suit that OJ Simpson wore when the jury acquitted him will not be accepted by the Smithsonian to be put on display.
I guess that you could say that the suit that acquit just doesn't fit with their plans. This also makes Fred Goldman happy because he has been in a custody dispute over who owns the suit for years. I must tell you that I wouldn't go to the Smithsonian to see it and I doubt that many would.
I did post this picture to demonstrate something though. Does anyone right off the top of their head know who that gentleman standing right next to OJ on his right is? Yep that is Robert Kardashian. He was OJ's friend and attorney who sadly passed away in 2003. What is this man's legacy that he left us? (Pause - Wait for it) Yes you guessed it his daughters are the famous for being famous Kardashian sisters who sadly our culture likes to keep up with. So among the numerous things that the OJ trial spawned you can thank him for them too.
So any thoughts on any of that? Sorry if I rambled and made no sense.

Gun Safety or Lack Thereof

I woke up this morning blank with no idea what to blog about. This happens from time to time but I never really worry about it too much because this world if chock-full of idiots and nimrods who really make this blogging thing and pointing out their stupidity easy.
Well I have found one and need to point it out to you. It involves the NRA. Let me give you a bit of background. On point I don't have any issues with the ability to own a gun for hunting or protection of ones home or collecting as a hobby. I don't think that guns should be banned or that normal law abiding citizens access to them should be impeded. However I am not of the opinion that a 13 year old kid ought to be able to walk into the corner store and buy an Uzi or Mac-10 or that criminals should have the same gun rights as citizens. I do believe that guns were created to kill things including people and think it's disingenuous to say that guns were created for any reason other than to kill.
This post however is not necessarily about gun control it's more about gun safety. I read this article this morning and had to bring it your attention. "NRA gun instructor accidentally shoots Orlando student" reads the title. Well it seems that the NRA was training folks in the Orlando area how to be safer and keep from getting hurt with guns but their own instructor broke the rules and brought live ammunition into class. Don't you feel safer now?
In honor of this I figured I would post this modified NRA Gun Safety Tips poster for all to enjoy:

Be careful ya'll it's dangerous out there. Me personally I usually follow Jimmy Buffett's rule about guns: "I got a big suspicion about ammunition, I never forget to duck."

Weekly Poll 3/1/10 What kind of TV reception do you use?

As I sit here this morning working from home and waiting for the DirecTV man to come and realign our dish it not only reminded me of this famous tirade post about terrible customer service from DirecTV but it also gave the the idea for this weeks poll.

How do you get TV reception at your home? Do you use satellite dish reception or Cable? We have been pretty much happy with direcTV other than the previously referenced post. (give it a read it's a beaut) Do you use Cable? regular, HiDef or digital? Or do you get broadcast channels over the air? Maybe you just use a PC or some other method.

Take a minute to vote in the poll and as always any comments are welcomed.

Hitting the High Notes 2/26/10

Here's the roundup of odd news stories I have seen recently:

-Here is quite a bizarre story that the Mt. Cat sent me about a woman who has been convicted in a stalking case. Who was she stalking? Herself.

-Why on earth does Susan Smith think she deserves a new trial? Go to hell Susan.

-Here's one where two Canadian teachers thought for some reason it was a good idea to perform a lap dance complete with grinding and simulated oral sex in front of a group of 13 year old students. Whats worse than that? There's video. Yep it's up on youtube.

-Some idiot legislators in Utah are actually thinking about having a state holiday for John Moses Browning (the inventor of the machine gun) on the same day already celebrated as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Are you kidding me? Instead of being passively bigoted why not just go all out and also make it KFC and watermelon day as well? Geeze.

-There is going to be a mural of Michael Jackson done in New York City. Where will it be? In the Brooklyn subway station where the video "Bad" was filmed by Martin Scorsese of course. Little known fact about this video (and tidbit of useless knowledge that I posses) is that Prince was actually approached about playing the Wesley Snipes part in this video.

-And finally my favorite. There is a group of students at the University of Mississippi who are leading a movement to replace the old Colonel Reb mascot that is being fazed out with Admiral Akbar from Star Wars. Hilarious! "It's a TRAP!"
Until next time keep reading the news....
