Dancing with the Stars--Finale!!!...And Birthday Pics!

The showdown began with a "Cha-Cha Face-off". All three couples took a turn performing at the same time. The song was a highly energized "Dancing on the Ceiling". Two of the couples were able to convert that energy to dance. Unfortunately Jason was not. He just doesn't move his body and especially his hips as much as he needs to for Latin dances. Cristian did a great job but Kristi totally blew the boys out of the water. She is a total package with style, movement, finesse & energy.

Next up was the freestyle round where ANYTHING goes! The stars really took this to heart with their dances. Kristi was unstoppable with her Mambo/Hip Hop combo. It was totally cool & fun. Tons of moves served up very fast and on the beat. Garnered her a well-deserved perfect score.

Jason kicked it up a notch with his funky freestyle. It was like watching a strip show...they both just kept losing clothes! There was a moment in the beginning where Jason was breakdancing which tickled my funny bone. As always the lifts were awesome with Jason's height and Edyta's body. She is a contortionist!

Cristian finished up the show with a routine that had some impressive one-armed lifts but didn't really measure up to the others in terms of originality. It felt like any other latin dance from the season.

If Kristi doesn't win this thing tomorrow night I will be greatly surprised and disappointed. She is clearly the runaway winner and has been since Day One. So now that the DWTS season is over, what's next? Well, for you die hard fans, I've found out that Wii makes a Dancing with the Stars game! How much fun would that be at a party with your drunken friends! I wish I had known about this before my birthday!!!

Well, I promised you all some pictures from my birthday. The first one is a close up of the front of my dress. If you look closely you can see my butterfly tatoo peeking out. And yes, it was VERY low cut!

This is the back shot. I got a little sunburn on my shoulders at the park that day.

Lastly is my belly button ring that Hubby gave me. The dangly thing is an emerald, my birthstone.

Oh, and here is a better look at my special Birthday Wine glass. Bina--the website is http://www.sbceramic.com/.

So tell me...Would You Rather...
Have to imbibe all liquids using a thimble?
OR
Get a bucket stuck to your foot and not be able to shake it off?
Cheers!

Things Bouncing Around This Head of Mine. 5/19/2008

- When I was a child, I used to think it was called Uncle Ben’s Perverted Brand Rice.

- When I was a child, I used to tell everyone ‘When I grow up I want to drive a fire whinge-win!'

- When I was a child, I was with my parents in a car and I pointed out the window and yelled ‘Oh look, Kenfucky Tied Chicken!’

- When I was a child, I once asked my mom for a Sesame Street Bagel.

- When I was a child, my favorite TV show was Wonderama. Remember that show folks? I cried when it was cancelled. (Insert sad face here).

- I don't think I ever went to see a movie in the theater just to see the special effects. It doesn't excite me. Except maybe when I was a child.

- My dad's favorite word is Usufruct. I don't know why? I guess it makes him sound smarter when he uses it.

- Whenever I am in traffic and all the cars are moving slow, I think to myself ‘What asshole is slowing us down?’ It has nothing to do with the amount of cars on the road. It has to do with one individual and one individual only. And he or she is always an asshole.

- What do atheists scream doing sex?

- I am a member of Wait Watchers. I just wait around too much and I watch my weight grow. Man I need to start eating better. (Insert sad face here).

- I hate sandals. My feet just don't get the security I need.

- I cannot stand those tiny paper packets of salt and pepper! They annoy me. So I keep salt and pepper shakers at my desk. Aren’t you glad I shared that with you?

- The first time I was on an airplane was 20 years ago when I moved to Charlotte from New York. I was listening to Pink Floyd’s The Wall in my cassette Walkman. As soon as the plane took off the little girl’s voice in the song 'Goodbye Blue Sky' said ‘Look mummy, there's an airplane up in the sky'. Kinda neat don’t you think?

- An example of bad color commentating by a newscaster:
‘…And sadly, the autopsy revealed he was murdered with a screw driver…Well speaking of screwed, the Mets really put the screws to the Yankees last night didn’t they? Here is Bob with sports.’

- A true example of bad color commentating by a newscaster:
A long time ago when I lived in Charlotte there was a newscaster on the NBC affiliate station named Jesse Johnson. She once uttered the following news story: ‘Mrs. Smith came home to find out her husband was not alive. He was dead’. Thank you Jesse for elaborating. I wasn’t quite sure what you were referring to when you said ‘not alive’. True story. Right Doc?

Happy Monday

Happy Monday Everyone !!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I did. Went to Apple's little birthday celebration on Friday and had a good time after Mt. Cat's Top 10 list set a record for comments. Spent time with my wife and son and watching racing Saturday. Yesterday we chilled out, I got things ready for tomorrow and then watched my NY Mets complete a mini two game sweep of the Yankees at their house. NICE ! What did you guys do this weekend?

A couple of things. First of all there will not be a poll this week due in part to Peachfest. We will need that space over there on the right for a few special pictures of things and not a poll. The poll will return next Monday.

Second, everything should be ready for Peachfest. The word game is already scheduled. It should be a good one with plenty of chance for commentary and conversation. I am really looking forward to tomorrow afternoon.

Third, if you want to invite your friends to participate in Peachfest tomorrow please feel free. The more the merrier I say. We have a lot of fun with Tuesday word game and tomorrow should be great !!

Let them eat cake!

Not Miss Merry :(

Good morning everyone! I had a great time last night! It was probably one of my best birthdays ever. I got to have a day all to myself to do what I want. I got to have lunch with my BFF. I spent 1-1/2 hours at Altell (wait, that wasn't a good part). I was hoping to get my new phone but they won't let me until next Fri. Something about being within 90 days of your contract expiring. Well, why didn't you just tell me that when I got here instead of wasting my time?! *end rant*

As someone mentioned last night, I don't just celebrate THE DAY, I celebrate the whole week...sometimes longer. Mostly it started on Thurs morning when I got myself a salon spray tan. I look like I spent a week on Barbados (I wish). But the nice part is...no tan lines...anywhere. Then on Thurs night I got a manicure. I just love getting beautified. Sometimes I am such a girly-girl! So being sufficiently pampered I had to have a new Birthday Dress!

We first went to The Wine Room for a pre-dinner drink. My friend Jane gave me a decorated glass for my birthday. It is beautiful and had people giving me well-wishes all night. Way more sophisticated than a hat!

Doc, Patrick's Mommy, Apple Hubby and I all had a couple drinks and then went across the street to dinner. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside. All was great, listening to some live music when there was some screeching. These 2 little girls were dancing and singing, which got us to talking about Karoke. Now, I love me some Karoke. One of my previous lives had me working in a bar that had karoke every month. It was a great time to stay after shift and sing a few tunes. I wonder if Doc has the same position on this as Rock Band. After all, isn't karoke like making fun of the "real" songs?
Anyway, after dinner we all went back to The Wine Room and I got my heel stuck in the door jam going in. Not the best way to make an entrance. Here we were joined by my BFF and his wife. BFF took one look at me and asked if I was sober....Hell No! Apple Hubby decided to give me my present since everyone was there. Isn't it cute? -->

No, seriously...he got me a custom made belly button ring with a dangling emerald. It is BEAUTIFUL! I'll try to get pics of it up later.

Anyway, the cake was yummy. This picture is not exactly what it looks like but you get the idea. The best part of the whole night was that I got to spend time with people I enjoy, drink wine and have everything be all about me. What more could a girl ask for...except maybe some pie?! Of course I got virtual pie bright and early yesterday from Doc, Mt Cat and Absolut. Thanks for making my birthday great Blogger Buds!

Person I Can't Do Without

My partner-in-crime Doc is the winner of this week's Top Ten List Award with a ridiculous amount of funny comments about people he can do without. I think Doc had all of them written down in a notebook from all the years of listening to George Carlin.

Doc you win my very special Lion Peach Award!:

Congrats Holmes.

(edited to add the following)

For any of you who have not read my friend Knight's Open letter to Rock Band I implore you to visit her site immediately and read her excellent commentary on this scourge of the earth that is destined to subjugate our youth, teach them not to respect musicians, and worst of all slowly sap away musical knowledge and learning to play a real musical instrument. Thank you Knight for speaking up for those of us who feel this way but haven't had the courage to speak. I am in awe of your greatness. I will PIMP your blog any time, Thank you - Doc

Thursday Random Thoughts 5/15/08

Stuff I have been thinking about:

-Update from last weeks thoughts. The ebay situation we were having worked out fine. We got the baby play yards and they are great! We weren't screwed on ebay.

-On Monday Hillary Clinton told a group of supporters the following at Tudor's Biscuit World in Charleston, West Virginia: "A woman is like a tea bag. Yyou never know how strong she is until she is in hot water." Ummmm Hil, that might not have been the best simile to use there hon.

-I wonder what would happen if you tried to listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon while watching "The Wiz"

-Interesting search note of the week. Someone from Metairie, La found our blog by searching "Annoying Nabisco Miss Mary Mack" It seems that someone out there agrees with me that the Nabisco ad is annoying.

-What do the following names have in common: Jacob, Logan, Aiden, Elijah, Gavin, Angel, Caleb, Luke, Landon, Aidan, Diego, Jason, Luis, Jeremiah, Wyatt, Xavier, Jesus, Bryan, Brian, Tristan, Liam, Carson, Ayden, Alejandro, Brody, Jesse, Vincent, Jake, Kaleb, and Preston?
All of these names were more popular boys baby names in 2007 than my son Patrick whose name came in 116th according to the Social Security Administration. In recent years the popularity of his name has really gone down. From the early 1970's until 1992 the name Patrick was consistently in the Top 30 names. In 1993 it started to slip further each year. In 2004 it fell to #100 and still continues to decline in popularity each year. It seems that my son will actually have a more unique name when he is in school than many of his more popularly named classmates. Funny, I always thought Patrick was a pretty popular name.

If you want to check out the list for yourself click here they have listings for the Top 1000 names each year for boys and girls. Some interesting stuff on there.

-I heard the song "Video Killed the radio star" by the Buggles yesterday. I still love that song for some reason.

-Does anyone else really love the smell of Pine-Sol ?

-This weeks most annoying TV commercial is anything that Billy Mays is hawking. that guy's voice drives me up the wall.

-I don't know if I mentioned this before but here is a fun fact. The lead singer of the group "Survivor" is also the singer for those Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercials.

-Last weekend I went to Village fest in downtown Kannapolis NC (I was doing research for our own upcoming fest of course) There was a native American booth there. They were selling art, craft and t-shirts. I just had to buy the T-shirt you see me wearing pictured to the right. This may be the best most clever T-shirt I have ever seen...

-Everyone make sure and wish AAA Apple Pie a Happy Birthday tomorrow!

-I actually saw this bumper sticker yesterday. 'Honk if Hillary Scares the Hell Out of You' The mini-van that it was on also had one of those 'W' stickers from 4 years ago. It was kind of old and faded... kind of like Bush's presidential policies.

-Speaking of politics, I saw the following headline yesterday, "Navy denies Chelsea Clinton access to firing range" Is that scary to anyone else or just me?

-The next two weekends are some of my favorite of the entire year. The races are in town this weekend (The All-Star Race) and next (The Coca-Cola 600) I love it... Add in Peachfest right in the middle and I am loving the month of May right now.
