Happy Friday

No time for posting today... I am at work early to get as much done as I can because I'm leaving early. It's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Pt. 1) day and I've already bought my ticket for a 12:20 showing. Then tonight it's AL Brown Wonders playoff football. Win and advance!

OK so here is the picture of my blog that I want to have showing on your blog rolls today:

I hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend. Sorry for such a worthless post but I'm sure you guys didn't want to read anything serious today anyway.

Happy Friday, I need one of these

So how is everyone doing this wonderful Friday? I'm doing great so far. For some reason a whole bunch of people decided to take the day off from work. This is just fine with me. There will be less people for me to deal with and I will surely be able to slip out a little bit early.

So since it's apparent that I'm phoning it in today I figured I would do the same with my blog posting and skip a post today. Then I saw this awesome picture below and knew I had to share:

My parents and In-laws keep asking me what I want for Christmas and I say forget the I-Pod I want get me a "Toast Saber" Completely awesome and a quick time saver... Toast is so yummy with a little butter and grape jelly but I don't eat it all that often because I have so little time in the morning. This would solve all those problems. Please somebody get me one of these.

Ok so maybe I still mailed it in a little bit on my blog post, but give me a break. IT'S FRIDAY!!

Whats on tap for the weekend?

What are you guys doing this weekend? As usual I am looking forward to the weekend with one exception. Tomorrow is the day that I have to pay for my speeding ticket by going to traffic school. Now from all accounts I have heard this will be an excruciatingly long and boring 5 hours. Because it's over an hour away it's going to shoot a gigantic hole right in the middle of my weekend, but I'm not complaining too much. I am just glad that my fine got reduced and going to this class will keep me from getting any points on my license. So think of me tomorrow while you all are having fun I will be watching "Blood runs red on the highway" lol.
Don't forget that Sunday is Father's Day! I want to wish all the Dads out there a great day and to kick back and enjoy yourself. I plan on hanging out with my family and hopefully watching a little NASCAR in the afternoon.
Whats on tap for your weekend? Please tell me all of the fun stuff you are going to be doing while I am stuck in traffic school.

Out for the Weekend

I'm heading out of town this weekend on my way to a wedding for a good friend of mine. Should be fun to get away for a bit but I'm gonna miss home and my wife and son... I've turned into a big homebody over the past few years, especially since he was born. Even though I know I will probably have a good time and staying home would involve battles about going potty and not listening to me and my wife when we try to tell him something I would probably rather stay home than make this road trip. I mean I know it will be fun and maybe I should be looking forward to 2 nights away I'm really not.
Is anyone else like this or am I the only one?

The Weekend is upon us...

The weekend is here and I was wondering what everyone is doing. Our family has a jam packed weekend of (hopefully fun) stuff planned. Tonight is Movie night where we try and convince Patrick that there is some other movie that we can watch other than CARS. Saturday we are headed up to Winston-Salem to see the Mighty Florida State Seminoles take on Wake Forest (Patrick's very first FSU game) and hopefully show up better than last week. The weekend gets topped off on Sunday with the Carolina Panthers Game and Sesame Street live at the Bojangles Coliseum (nicknamed the biscuit). This should really be fun. We will get to see all of our favorite Sesame Street characters including Elmo and "Oscar in the Garbage" as my son calls him. (probably not Leela though)

What are you doing this weekend?

Busy schedule this weekend and my quest

This weekend is going to be a busy one at our house. Tomorrow we are going with some friends of ours to the pumpkin farm to take the kids to pick their own pumpkins, we have a birthday party and I am going to try to attend John McCain's rally in Concord. Sunday we are going to Martinsville Virginia to do the only thing there is to do in Martinsville Virginia and that is to attend the NASCAR race as guests of a great sponsor SNAP ON TOOLS. We are going to hospitality and possibly meet and greet with drivers etc. Sounds great huh?

Here is my quest for this weekend. Of all that fun stuff my goal is to get my picture taken with either John McCain or Kevin Harvick. What do you think? Does anyone else have anything fun going on this weekend? What is your weekend quest?

Awwww, aren't we the Walton's

=========>

Umm...No.

I've had a very busy and interesting weekend. Let me just start off by saying May is my favorite month. There are many reasons for this...not the least of which is my birthday. But also because the weather is great, (especially in the South), it's time for sundresses and short-shorts, there are tons of stuff to do everywhere, and people are generally in a happy mood to be out of the winter doldrums.
So I secured a babysitter for the Chiles for Fri night and told Hubby that it was his turn to plan (since I've done the last 20 or so dates). I was expecting dinner and a movie (since that's his usual repetoire), which was fine. However, he surprised me by actually doing research (and asking his Admin (who's single and 20 something...nuff said)) about where a good place to go would be. He wanted something with live music and activity. (Hubby is an introvert so this was a shocker!)

So he tells me we're going to an area of Charlotte known as NoDa. This is a very artsy neighborhood and it just happened that there was a Gallery Crawl that night with various live music venues. FUN! After we arrive and find a parking spot, we decided to get supper at Boudreaux's. I am a HUGE fan of Creole/Cajun food so I was excited. The Alligator Bites were good but the Shrimp and Crawfish Etoufee was ASTOUNDING! Hubby and I shared so that we could have dessert too. The Bread Pudding was a little cinnamon-y for my taste but I definately didn't have trouble finishing it off. :)

We then strolled through the neighborhood, checking out the art and local flavor. In stopping to listen to one of the live bands outdoors we were witness to some severe bumping and grinding. It was not even 9pm and this couple was acting like they must have started drinking at 3. Those of us observing were talking about taking up a collection to get them a room somewhere. Now, lest you think I'm a prude (you should know better than that anyway) I have no problem with PDAs. However, I do believe that some things should be done in the private of your own home, hotel room, or at least a back alley. Maybe if the couple were attractive I wouldn't have been as offended. Hell, maybe I was jealous I wasn't that drunk too!

So on we mosied down the street. At The Evening Muse, we caught the tail-end of a father and son guitar duo. After that was a girl named Nicolette Emanuelle who is very folksy-indie ish. She has a fairly decent voice but can sometimes get a little nasal. One song in particular caught my attention. It was entitled "To My Drunk Friends". Now that alone intrigued me but it was the chorus that made me turn to Hubby and say "Did I hear that right?" "Maybe you're coaxial, maybe you're bipolar. Well, I'm bi all the time..." Okay, then. Nothing like broadcasting that to a group of drunk strangers. Now the funny part of this is that Hubby and I had been wondering if SHE was not, or used to be, a HE. Well...that would make you "bi all the time". After that it was time to get back home to rescuepay the sitter.

On to Saturday. The main event of this day was our families first ever camping trip. I have not camped in a good 15-16 years and usually prefer the local Hamption Inn. However, this was a church activity and sounded like fun for 1 evening. When we pulled up to the campsite, the Chiles got out and looked at the bare ground and trees and proclaimed that "this sucks". Now, they love to play outside and collect rocks and leaves and such so this was a bit of a surprise. I asked them to please have an open mind and we would try and have a good time. Let me just say that by Sunday morning as we were breaking camp they thought this was the best thing ever! Cooking over the fire definately appealed to the little pyromaniac. We ended the weekend with a little mini-golf (or putt-putt as they say in the South). All-in-all this was one of the better weekends. We'll see what next week brings!
