Weekly Poll 7/21/2008

This weeks poll has to do with our blog picture. We have had pretty much the same picture up since we started YJKOBT. It's this picture taken of us like 5 years ago on a trip I made to New York City and we in front of this waterfall at Lincoln Center. I am starting to think that it is old and outdated and we need a new picture. In two weeks I am going to be in NYC again and Mt. Cat and I could probably take a new one. So let us know what you think. Should we take a new picture or stick with this old one?

Weekly Poll 7/14/2008

This week lets continue with the food theme this week. Last week we voted for our favorite hot dog toppings and this week is deli meat. When you order a sandwich what is your favorite meat to have on it? The standards of ham, turkey, bologna, and roast beef are there but there are a few more as well.
I think my favorite is a combination of Corned beef and Pastrami... Makes me hungry for lunch already. I might just have to have a sandwich today!
Vote for as many as you like and as usual the poll runs through this coming Sunday night. Feel free to discuss your favorite and tell me if I left any off the list.

Weekly Poll 7/7/2008

After this past weeks 4th of July holiday with all the cookouts, the Nathan's hot dog eating contest and the other celebrations I got to thinking about hot dogs. I think they are an All American kind of food. It seems that there is as much diversity in how we top our dogs as America itself. Just doing some quick research I found over 10 separate "types" of dogs including Chicago-style dog, Coney Island dog, Fenway Frank, Southern style dog, and Kansas City dog. All of these topped with a different array of yummy garnishes.
This week's poll asks what you top your dog with? I tried to include as many as possible but I am sure there are others. Feel free to tell me if I missed what you like on your hot dog.

Weekly Poll 6/30

Happy Monday all... At least it's a short work week. I don't know about the rest of you but I love the 4th of July holiday! With the fireworks and all the patriotic music the kids parades and grilling out with family and friends it's one of the best days of the year!

This weeks poll is simple. What is your favorite thing about the 4th of July?

W-w-w-w-w-w-Wednesday Would You Rather?

This week my inspiration came from Doc's weekly poll. Since we're talking about favorite colors I ask you to ponder this...

Would you rather...

Only wear Mr. Rogers-esqe clothing?

OR

have all your clothes be tangerine orange?

Things to consider: dating, getting a job, looking jaundiced

Happy Pondering!

Weekly poll

Real Quick because I have to run and get started re-shingling our roof (I know I sound like MickyT) but I wanted to put this weeks poll up. It's simple, which do you prefer board games or video games?

Weekly Poll 6/2/2008

Now that it's June and we are moving into a summer mode I was wondering what everyone was doing for vacation. What are you doing this summer with gas prices sky high? Are you even going on vacation? What are your travel plans? Where are you going? I created a small list and posted them but please feel free to tell us what you are doing even if it's not listed. Vote for as many as you want.

Thank you to my buddy MickyT for the suggestion!

What's in a name ?

I hope that everyone had a great long weekend. I know that we did over at the Doc household. We hung out all weekend and yes I even got that picture of the jets over my house I promised earlier. Look for it on Thursday during Random thoughts.
Thank you all for your great poll ideas. I now have several good one to ask in coming weeks however this weeks poll idea comes to us from my pal and yours Lulita. She wanted to know if you like the name your parents gave you. It's an interesting idea. The poll question is simple. Yes or No, do you like your name? Even though the poll question is simple I am sure this group has some discussion that can go on about it as well. What do you think?

What should next weeks poll be?

We have had polls about funny issues, controversial issues, food, drinks, political issues (see Hillary and Barack to the left) and tons of other stuff however we haven't had a reader chosen poll yet. Next weeks poll is up to you guys. Give me some ideas... What should I make next weeks poll be about? Leave some ideas and I will choose one to be the poll next week.

Weekly Poll 5/12

Good Monday to everyone. I hope that you had a great weekend, especially all the mothers. Last week dogs and cats topped the poll as the most popular pets. Heck even several people had turtles. Thank you for voting as always.
This week's poll is going to focus on technology. Modern convenience devices that have come along to make our lives "better." Specifically asking what device you would not be able to live without. The list to choose from includes cell phone, digital camera, computer (access to the internet) , i-pod, Tivo/DVR, or video gaming console. If all of these items were to be possibly taken away from you which of these devices could you simply not live without? You have to choose just one!
Please vote in the poll and comment as you wish.

Weekly Poll 5/5

Last week's poll showed pretty conclusively that the readers of YJKOBT think that David Cook will win American Idol this season. (let's hope that comes true) Thank you to everyone who voted.

I was trying to think of a good poll topic for this week and had nothing. So I decided I would go back to one that I was going to use a few months ago. PETS! What type of pet do you and your family have? I tried to provide a decent list but of course someone will come up with something I missed so comment if you wish.

Vote for as many types that you have and as always voting goes through Sunday night.

Weekly Poll 4/28

Happy Monday everyone... Welcome to another week here a YJKOBT. It's going to be a big week for sure because sometime in the next 3 days we are going to welcome our 25,000th visitor! Keep checking back because I am going to do my best to make the announcement as soon as it happens. (unless of course it's in the middle of the night or something)

Last weeks poll clearly showed that you folks think that Krisit Yamaguchi is going to win Dancing with the stars this season. Not much competition there but I figured that since we are down to five on American Idol I would ask who you think is going to win that competition? Will it be one of the Davids or perhaps the babbling Brooke? Can that dredlock wearing Jason fumble his way to the title or perhaps it will be Syesha? You decide and vote. The poll closes Sunday night and of course any discussion on the topic is welcomed too.

Weekly Poll--DWTS

The competition is really starting to heat up. The stars are pulling out all the stops and putting in all out on the line. Let's get a little healthy competition going here. It's time to make your guesses.

Who will win Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars? Not only does the winner receive the coveted Mirrored Disco Ball but they also get to guest star as the "Mystery Dancer" on "Live! with Regis and Kelly". (I'm just kidding about that.) BUT...there could be something in it for those of you who's guesses turn out to be right in a few weeks. ;p

Vote early and tune in to ABC tonight @8pm to watch the remaining 7 Stars get their groove on. Also, tonight is the much anticipated "group dance"!

Weekly Poll 4/14

Thanks to everyone who voted last week. It seems that that popular choice of drink for readers of YJKOBT is vodka which won last weeks poll by a sizable margin. This week let go to the exact opposite of last weeks. Driving. What do you own and drive? Car, truck, mini-van, SUV, motorcycle? You name it. This weeks poll you can vote for more than one choice (since family's obviously can have more than one) vote for as many as you own/drive... voting ends Sunday at midnight.

Happy Birthday Mt. Cat and Weekly Poll 4/7

First of all I want to wish my good buddy the Mt. Cat Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoy it buddy. Its' too bad I couldn't make your party the other night. All the best for another year. (Man we are creeping up on 40, can you believe that?)

Second, this weeks theme for a poll comes to us from the birthday boy himself who wants to know what kind of liquor you like to drink. Since most of us were wrong last week in voting for North Carolina to win the Final Four I guess this week we must be drowning our sorrows.

Please vote for your favorite hard liquor, and of course poll ends Sunday night. Also feel free to discuss and and wish Ole Mt. Cat a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I'm back and weekly poll

Wheew... Back from vacation and I missed you guys. It seems like you all had a fun time without me though. Thanks to my buddy the Mt. Cat and for holding down the fort while I was away. We had a great trip and I will tell all about it and share some pictures later but first things first. Last week in the poll it seems that your favorite Seattle grunge band was Pearl Jam as they pulled in a full 50% of the vote. This week we move back to sports and the upcoming NCAA basketball Final Four. First time in history that all four #1 seeds advanced to the final four so this weeks poll is who will win?

-Doc

p.s. - I hope to get caught up on reading you guys' blogs by the end of the week. I can't wait to see what I missed.

So take those old records of the shelf....

Well my partner in crime Doc has gone away for a week on vacation with his family. That means it's party time for The Mountain Cat!! I have the whooollle house all to myself! Right now I am dancing to Bob Seger’s Old Time Rock and Roll in just a button down shirt, underwear and socks just like Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Ok I know that is more than enough vivid imagery you can stand before your Monday morning coffee. So let me get to my first order of business this week: The winner of last week’s poll for your least favorite minor holiday is St. Patrick’s Day! It barely edged out President’s Day by a vote of 8 to 7.

Now for this week’s poll, let’s go slightly retro: Who is your favorite 1990’s Grunge Rock band from Seattle? Yes, the Starbuck’s caffeine infused city that used to be a hot bed of contemporary hard rock bands that changed popular music forever.

Do you prefer Alice in Chains, Candlebox, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Pearl Jam or Soundgarden? I am really interested to see what the millions of fans who read my blogs think.

Have a great work week y’all.

New Poll - St. Patrick's Day Edition

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone !!

To pay homage to this minor holiday this weeks poll will be what is your least favorite minor holiday of the year. I came up with a few but omitted Valentines Day because it's not even a real holiday... take a second to vote in the poll if you like and of course thanks to everyone who voted last week, of course Brittney Spears was the overwhelming choice as the biggest train wreck.

Weekly Poll 3/10

Last weeks poll was another snoozer with Kramer from Seinfeld easily showing up the competition with a resounding win. I figured this week we would level the playing field a bit and ask about pop culture. Specifically about the trainwrecks that are these young Hollywood types. You know them, their every stupid move is documented by the press and the paparazzi. Heck some of them are just famous for being famous. They spend more time in rehab than a physical therapy patient and I for one wish they would go away. I have selected 4 worthy specimens for us to vote on this week. Kind of a list of the usual suspects. Lindsay, Britney, Amy, and Paris... Which is the biggest trainwreck in your opinion?
