Heather Mills strikes again!

Well, everybody's favorite token 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant has scored a new gig! After her recent public and trash-talken divorce from Paul McCartney, Mills will be one of the judges for the Miss USA pageant, on this Fri.

I have to admit...sometimes I am such a girl. I LOVE pageants! I love all the fancy dresses and silly dance routines. I know all the arguments against them: beauty not brains, scantily clad bodies on parade, yada-yada-yada! Who cares! Sometimes a little girl just needs to dream! (And little boys can fantasize)

So, dear readers, give me your thoughts? Is Heather really qualified to judge? Do you think pageants are fair, or silly, or fun, or whatever adjective you choose?

Tuesday Word Game Results

After yesterday's mammoth edition of Tuesday word game I had some thinking to do. There were so many fantastic answers that there is no way that I could narrow down for a single winner. I have been thinking for a while that there ought to be a special place here on YJKOBT where very special postings and the comments are "retired" to along with the blog readers who commented. Yesterday's edition of Tuesday Word Game qualifies as such a posting due not to the contents of the posting but the epic roll of comments including a furious volley of hilarious comments by Sassy Mama Bear, Lu, Anndi, Leighann and others.
So with out further adieu let me announce the creation of the YJKOBT Hall Of Fame (still under construction) and name yesterday's edition of Tuesday Word Game the first official post inductee thanks to all the great comments that all you guys left.
Congratulations to everyone and thank you for such an epic post... Welcome to the YJKOBT Hall Of Fame:

I still need to create the Hall of Fame and links to it for the main page as well as establish criteria for individual members (ie. a certain number of Peach or Lion awards) So look for that soon.

Tuesday Word Game 4/8

This week for Tuesday word game we head back to the sports world. It's been awhile since we last saw Michael Vick... Let's see what he is up to ladies and gents. Oh that's right, he is in federal prison on dogfighting charges and guess what he is doing there instead of paying for his crimes? He is playing football of course.

It seems that Vick has been writing letters to Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank during his incarceration. In those letters he says that he is the first round draft pick in the penal league football team. Isn't that nice?

Let's take this opportunity to explore the world of Mike Vick in prison. Fill in the the blank in the real news story below with a funny and fictitious activity that Vick is participating in to fill the time while he is in prison. Knitting perhaps? Writing a physics textbook? Who knows, maybe he is spending his time playing Pokemon? You decide and answer in a comment:

When they choose sides for football games in the yard at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., Michael Vick is the popular pick.
Twice for the same game, it seems.
In an interview with the New York Daily News posted on their Web site on Monday,
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Vick is playing ball in prison to keep his body in shape, his arm limber and to pass the time.
"Apparently, there was a prison football team and he played quarterback for both sides," Blank told the Daily News.

Blank also said that Vick has taken up a new hobby in prison and is passing his time by ______________________ .

Please answer as often as you like and of course the best answer gets a Peach!

Dancing with the Stars--Week 4

This week's dances were all about drama, romance & passion. Three of my favorite things! I felt that the remaining 9, with the exception of one, really took the ability level up a notch or 2. This is getting to be an intense contest! There were five 10s given out and 2 almost perfect scores. The heat is on!!!

Kristi Yamaguchi came out of the starting gate and set the bar for the night. As usual, she was perfection and gave a very impressive Pas a doble` performance that netted her two 10s and a score of 29. She was a tough act to follow.

Priscilla Presley was up next with the Viennese Waltz. I thought she was very graceful although it did seem a bit strained at times. She looks much less hard and waxy with her dress and hair done in curls. Maybe she should go for that look more often.

Adam Carolla came out with his version of the Pas a doble`... on a unicycle! Between that and the fire in the background I felt like I was watching a circus act. Can't he just dance and not have all the distractions? He is the only one who didn't break into the 20s and I think it shows that he is out of his league here. It's time for him to go home.

Marlee Matlin gave a beautiful Waltz performance that moved CarrieAnn to tears! I felt her posture is a little limp, kind of like a ragdoll. This may be related to here deafness, we'll see if she improves next week.

Mario's Pas a doble` was fast and quick but I was most impressed with Karina's boobs. That dress was awesome! She can be quite bitchy but I'll overlook it and focus on her chest.

Next came Jason Taylor with his Waltz. He recovered from his lower score last week and brought an amazing dance. He was the second dancer to garner two 10s and an almost perfect score.

Being a Latino, Cristian de la Feunte did a great job with his Pas a doble`. It was very intense and focused, something I haven't seen from him thus far. He was awarded with one of the higher scores of the night with 26.

One of my personal favs is Shannon Elizabeth. Her partner Derek had a little medical trouble last week but seemed to but much better last night. These two have serious CHEMISTRY!!! They looked like they were just going to go for it at the end of their dance. She also got one of the coveted 10s...from Head Judge Len! That makes it even more impressive!

Marissa Jaret Winokur had a much better night than last week. Her Pas a doble` was very serious and difficult but she pulled it off. I felt like there was maybe a little too much concentration at a couple points but otherwise felt she nailed it.

My pick to go home: Adam...please!!! See you next week! :)

Happy Birthday Mt. Cat and Weekly Poll 4/7

First of all I want to wish my good buddy the Mt. Cat Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoy it buddy. Its' too bad I couldn't make your party the other night. All the best for another year. (Man we are creeping up on 40, can you believe that?)

Second, this weeks theme for a poll comes to us from the birthday boy himself who wants to know what kind of liquor you like to drink. Since most of us were wrong last week in voting for North Carolina to win the Final Four I guess this week we must be drowning our sorrows.

Please vote for your favorite hard liquor, and of course poll ends Sunday night. Also feel free to discuss and and wish Ole Mt. Cat a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The Stones, Viggo and Moses

Over the weekend I saw the new Rolling Stones concert film Shine a Light at the IMAX theather in Manhattan. I highly recommend this film for any big fan of their music. Directed by my main man Martin Scorsese who is no stranger to concert films. In 1978 he filmed The Band’s final concert in the film The Last Waltz (Which is considered by many critics to be the best concert film of all time). Shine a Light is very similar as it inter-cuts historical footage and interviews with the Rolling Stones’ performance at The Beacon Theather in Manhattan last year. Guest performances by Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera added to this fantastic performance.

One of the most interesting parts of the film were the interviews with Keith Richards and his tongue in cheek comments about how he has lasted this long! As well as the Rolling Stones 45 year together with no signs of slowing down. Richards also performs an amazing version of their 1969 classic You Got the Silver. Mick Jagger has always been known as their front man but Richards still has a great rock voice. However the biggest draw back of this film for me was seeing Richards cracked face extremely close up on the 75 foot IMAX screen. Eek!! Richards is the ultimate survivor after the insane life he has lived. In fact, I bet that after all of man kind is extinct and the cockroaches die off eons later, Keith Richards will still be around strumming his trademark guitar riffs and puffing on his cig. Long live Keith and the Rolling Stones.

Secondly, I watched the film Eastern Promises staring Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts. Great flick. I never liked Mortensen before this film. However, he did receive an Oscar nomination last year and deservedly so. He plays a conflicted Russian mobster in London. His deadpan performance was amazing which included an intense and bloody fight scene while naked in a Russian bath house! (He'll make all the ladies swoon with his funky tattoos all over his body). Complex story but very compelling. It is one of the best new films I’ve seen in a while.

Lastly, I’d just like to pay homage to Charlton Heston who died on Saturday. Say what you will about his politics but he was a commanding screen presence. Touch of Evil is one of my favorite Film Noirs. Even though the running Hollywood joke is that he was miscast as a Mexican in the film, he still showed a dominating and very memorable performance. And from my Catholic grammar school days, he will always be embedded into my memory as the face of Moses in all those bible passages. There were very few stars like Charlton Heston.

The McVietnam Song

The winner for the best comment for my Friday’s The Top Ten Worst McDonald's Food Ideas goes to Phrankie Bondo who wrote:

The Country Joe McDonald Burger: "Gimme an F...gimme an I...gimme an S...gimme an H"

Very funny play on Country Joe McDonald & the Fish’s Vietnam Song as performed live from Woodstock. And considering how advertisers like to reminisce about the 1960s and Woodstock, this vulgar rant by Country Joe probably would never be used as a parody to help sell burgers and Filet O' Fishs! LOL

Phfankie Bondo, to quote McDonalds ‘I’m Lovin’ It!’ You win a Golden Lion!

Please stop by Phfankie Bondo's blog page, ~Steamboat Slough~ , at http://shadygrove999.blogspot.com/.

Y’all have a great Sunday.

HouseSwap

Have you seen the movie "The Holiday"? It is really great...definitely a chick flick. But what I love about it is the part about swapping houses for a vacation. To me this seems like a great way to take a vacation and have the lodging part for free. Plus, you get a whole house (or apt) with the person's stuff in it, some times even a car to use. You can cook meals and therefore save on food too! So, theoretically, you could take a vacation for only the cost of transportation.

My question is, have any of you ever done this? I am interested but not sure how to go about it. Yes, there are some good websites but how do I get people to want to come to my humble abode. This area has many things to offer: NASCAR, shopping, culture, sports. Plus, I have a place that would be great for families with small children: big yard, swingset, toys, etc.

I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts on this. Tis the season for vacation planning!
Happy Trails,
